We & several other boats met in Egg Harbor to anchor out for a weekend & enjoy the town. The shopping is good & restaurants are great, however, one issue always presents itself. I was appalled to learn that the problem is created by one of the residents. We create a raft of boats next to the public park. The local resident hops on his boat & drives around the harbor on plane as close to the boats as possible to create a wake & let himself be known. Like a child throwing a fit saying "you can't play in my sandbox". This man needs to be reminded that no one owns the water; he has no legal right or jurisdiction to determine who uses the waterways. Also, he is responsible for his wake & any damage that it causes. The 1st year or 2 we were there & he started his childish behavior, we thought it was an irresponsible boater who didn't know better, but soon realized that this was not the case. After talking local folks, we learned that this apparently is his way of claiming his stakes. He doesn't want change/development in Egg Harbor. He wants to have it all to himself. Locals we spoke to were embarrassed, but not surprised at his shallow actions. Imagine having nothing better to do with yourself other than worry about boats across the harbor & how to chase them out of town? Shop & restaurant owners should be horrified that this one ignorant person is attempting to chase their business away.
