Introduction:
Located at the southern end of Elbow Cay, Tilloo Cut is a passage between Elbow and Tilloo cuts that allows boats to travel between the Sea of Abaco and the Atlantic Ocean.

Navigating the Water:
Two different channels feed into Tilloo Cut. The first comes in from the north from Lubbers Quarters Channel, and can be seen entering Tilloo Cut from the west (left) above. The second portion of the channel feeds in from the south from the Sea of Abaco, just south of Lubbers Quarters Island.

Though marked with stakes and relatively deep (8-foot depths) the Lubbers Quartes Channel portion is twisty and can be challenging, with strong currents running through the narrow passage. The passage from the Sea of Abaco is easier and deeper.

Once you have cleared into Tilloo Cut, the water deepens south of Tahiti Beach, and then empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Althoguh Tilloo Cut is known as one of the safer passages out into the Atlantic from the Sea of Abaco, a strong northeast to east wind can stir up quite a chop in the cut. Check the weather and seek local knowledge before heading out.
