Introduction:
Located at the head of Prospect Harbor east of the Schoodic Peninsula, this 42-foot high white and black lighthouse casts a flashing red light across the local waters every six seconds and has two white sectors for danger and shoal areas.

History:
The Prospect Harbor Light Station was established in 1850, while the present wooden lighthouse was constructed and went into service in 1891. The Unites States Coast Guard automated the lighthouse in 1951 and still maintains the light as an important aid to navigation. The U.S. Navy owns the surrounding property and the remaining three buildings: a keeper’s house, oil house and boathouse.

Tour Schedule:
Prospect Harbor Lighthouse is located on a U.S. Naval Base and is off limits to the public, except during special events. With that said, the best view of the lighthouse is from a boat on the water.
