About

Introduction:

This lighthouse is actually a private residence on the south side of the Port of Brookings and was not originally intended to serve any navigational purposes, but more as a novelty.

History:

The original lighthouse was constructed by a private individual and lit in 1999. The individual had taken their house and added a light tower to it. Without and unobstructed view of the ocean, the house was moved in 1997, and consequently lit in 1999 with USCG approval.

Navigating in and Around the Lighthouse:

Use NOAA Chart 18602.

Please keep in mid that this chart shows soundings in fathoms. One fathom is six feet in actual depth.

Characteristics: Flashing white (three times) every 20 seconds with a focal plane 141 feet above the Pacific.

Local Notices to Mariners:

Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Tour Schedule:

The lighthouse is a private residence; no tours are conducted.
