Services

Have you ever pictured the perfect "hang out" place? We'll bet it felt a lot like the riverfront patio and pool at Salpare Bay. With excellent exposure to the sun, shade from the building and a view of the marina and river and surroundings that just won't quit, imagine the fun! The patio is well furnished with lounge chairs, bistro tables, and a fire pit and it's all yours for quiet moments alone or a good time with friends.

Destination Restaurant
A site overlooking the lanai and marina is reserved for a new first class Portland waterfront restaurant. We are looking forward to making an announcement soon on who will be cooking up excitement on the riverfront.

Club Salpare Bay
The Salpare Bay Clubhouse will be your private center for relaxation and entertaining. A spacious lounge and game room with kitchen, fireplace and large screen television will be a focal point for social activities. The workout center features quality cardio and resistance training equipment. A massage room is also available. Large locker and shower rooms for men and women include saunas and grooming area. The showers serve both the fitness areas and the outdoor pool.

Kayak Rack
If you paddle or row for fun or fitness, keep your scull or kayak on the convenient storage rack at dock's edge. That way it's only minutes from when the urge hits 'til you're on the water.

Private Beach
Across from the Marina is a private sand spit with 200 feet of sandy beach on the shore of the Columbia River. It's the perfect spot for swimming, sunning, kicking back with a good book or enjoying a campfire with friends. (Try doing any of those things downtown!)

Secure Parking
Underground parking with secure access to the building adds to your convenience and comfort. Additional covered parking as well as storage for your recreational, seasonal and outdoor gear is available for purchase.

Let's have a serious talk about value. Prime riverfront property in the greater Portland area is becoming scarce. Some in-city urban sites call themselves river front, and that's ok if you just like to look at the water and not really use it. Think ahead a few years and thank yourself for the wise move of locking up your piece of the river (including a Marina and private beach) while it's still possible.

So you come home from a busy day at the office. Slip into some shorts, grab a beach chair, a good book and an icy Guinness and head off to the beach. Now remember the sandy Columbia River beach is just a short walk from your front door. Two, maybe three minutes max. It's perfect for swimming, picnics, campfires and ghost stories. And don't forget the occasional s'more. You'll forget you're seven minutes from the heart of the city. Where else can you live like that?

"Some days life is meant to be lived on the water. Or even in the water."

The Columbia River is all yours at Salpare Bay. The luxury marina, featuring 193 slips from 30 to 100 feet, is conveniently located at the western edge of the scenic Columbia River Gorge and 70 nautical miles up river from the Pacific Ocean.

All slips enjoy full shore-side services including Cat 6, Wi-Fi and Cable and a Harbor Master building with laundry, showers and restrooms. Only seven minutes from downtown Portland and minutes from Vancouver and the Portland International Airport, with Portland's finest marine and shore side ship stores at your fingertips.

Our amenities include:
High quality "lifetime" construction
Stamped concrete decking
Generous storage lockers
Water and power

Hayden Island - Where Portland Came to Play

From the earliest days of Portland, Hayden Island has been a sparkling jewel in the Columbia River where the locals knew they could come for a good time swimming, sunning, picnicking and enjoying each other's company. Later, locals got a big boost in the fun as the Island become a preferred location for a series of early century amusement parks.

Jantzen Beach Park
Jantzen Beach Amusement Park was named for the Carl Jantzen, one of the founding investors in Jantzen swimsuits. Doors opened to the public on May 26, 1928 on a 40-acre site on the west end of the Island where the shopping center bearing the same name sits. On its second day of operation, 25,000 visitors showed up. By 1970 when the park closed, over 30 million visitors had passed through the turnstiles. Big attractions were the Big Dipper roller coaster, Golden Canopy Ballroom, four swimming pools, a natatorium, 25 acres of picnic grounds, 15 acres of parking and the C.W. Parker Merry-Go-Round, built in 1904 for the St. Louis World's Fair. You can still ride the merry-go-round today at Jantzen Beach Center.

Lotus Isle
Portland's largest amusement park was Lotus Isle opened in 1930 and spread over 128 acres at the east end of Hayden Island, known as Tomahawk Island. Promoters referred to it as the "Million-Dollar Pleasure Paradise." Lotus Isle featured 40 amusement park rides and a 100-foot neon Eiffel Tower sign at the entrance, visible all the way to the West Hills.

Columbia Beach Amusement Park
Columbia Beach Amusement Park operated from 1916 until 1926, when a fire wiped out the popular dance pavilion. In its heyday, the sandy Columbia River beaches would be enjoyed by as many as 15,000 swimmers with a peak attendance of 30,000 a day. Columbia Beach featured excellent camping facilities and the dance pavilion was one of the largest in the country with dances every day of the week. Other attractions included a miniature railway, ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, motordome, midway, sports fields, roller skating pavilion and shops.
