Very welcoming, nice facilities, good place to wait out high winds.
Great just like last time. Quiet marina, helpful staff, got use of the courtesy car, and Guntersville has some very good restaurants. We went to Crawmama's going upriver and Mike's Steak House going down. Both great in very different ways. I very much recommend this stop.
Nice cozy marina. Great spot to go for a scenic walk. Kyle was very helpful with the docking and runs the place well. Restaurant food was very enjoyable. We had heard from others the restaurant was closing at the end of October but this is not true. Server confirmed they're open til Thanksgiving. That's good because we'll be back in two weeks. A good experience here.
Had a great time at Bingo. Kathy the hostess was wonderful. This was a great stop to meet and mingle with real, local folks. We'll be back again in a couple weeks.
Great marina but they completely left us in the lurch when it came to the repairs we wanted done. We were initially told they were short-staffed. No problem. On the Wednesday we got there we were told they'd have a look at it by Friday, and then if parts were necessary they'd have to order them and that could take a week, so we would need to stay for at least that long. The first Friday came and went, no visit from them. So we waited on the boat for the entire following week. Having gotten to the next Friday and having given up on ever seeing them we booked a trip out of town without the boat. They came by at 4pm on that Friday afternoon and then phoned us asking where the keys to the boat were. Seriously? We sat on the boat for over a WEEK, were told they would call us when they were on their way over, and then an hour after we leave the boat they finally come by and want to know why we didn't leave the keys on our unattended boat? So they apologized and said they'd be there first thing Monday morning. Monday, no show. I called them, they said Tuesday. Tuesday, no show. By now it was pointless. So we spent 15 days there at the height of their busy season when they were trying to keep boats moving through and got nothing at all. And the poor harbormaster had to make an exception and let us stay longer than she was supposed to because we were promised service. She really could have used the space and we didn't want to be there. So, great marina, nice restaurant, very nice staff on the docks and in the ship store, and a service department that never does what they say they will do sums it up. Why make promises over and over again and not deliver? Who benefits from that?
The bad: Try as I might I could not get a response to my phone calls. I called no fewer than a dozen times over 3 days, left messages, and calls were never answered or returned. We needed fuel and it was 99 degrees and we have no generator. We needed to know if there was space available and if we could get fuel. Somebody has got to work the phones! We were calling in the middle of the day. Also we ran aground, or at the very least spun up a lot of mud. It is ridiculous how close to the dock you have to come in. Any more than a couple of feet (literally) off the end of the dock and you'll go aground. And our draft is only 3'3", so if we're hitting bottom many others will too. The good: John the dock attendant was fantastic. He squeezed us in for an overnight spot. We thought they were sold out; he went all the way up to the office to get his ipad and found a way to get us a spot. We were so parched from the heat and lack of AC that getting an electrical hookup saved us from having to go hours more on to Green Turtle Bay for power. We REALLY appreciated the extra effort and assistance he gave us.
