Restrictive hours for a summer marina. They close the general store/marina at 7pm which means no restrooms until the next day. The check in bordered on the the depth of a mortgage application, but the worst insult was charging $5 for the disposal of a brown paper bag worth of trash. The anchorage is open to S and SW swells and we were rockin and rollin.
Emily and Malcolm provided launch service above and beyond their proscribed duties. Admittedly it was a slow w/e but they put in extra effort and time to help us get to events at the ferry dock.
Clean, good service, docks are in great shape.
The Gloucester harbormaster and crew do a great job. The moorings and pick up sticks are new and well maintained. The launch staff are attentive and efficient but their range of coverage is so great there are times you'll have a long wait for service. Still one of the best values for a mooring and a great city.
The transient moorings aren't maintained. I predicted to my crew that the mooring pennant would be wrapped around the anchor chain, and guess what? It was. So we had to drop off the mooring and hover while the staff member unwound it. 2 of the 3 launches were out of service causing long delays. The staff is wonderful. I feel they work very hard at overcoming obstacles and they are very friendly. The big issues seem to reflect a lack of attention by management.
Beautiful location, very reasonably priced mooring and a fabulous restaurant. I would rate the meals as 5 stars. The laundry, shower and rest rooms were pristine. Solid mahogany counter tops at the restroom sinks!!! I highly recommend this marina.
