Orient by the sea is the perfect 4th of July get away spot. We sailed over in the afternoon from New London, CT. The Marina is easy to find, the restaurant and bar served delicious food and beverages for our dinner. The best part was that they allowed dogs on the patio so we didn't need to leave our pooch behind. If you bring a bicycle you can ride into the state park or it is only 3 miles to downtown where we had an amazing breakfast pie and coffee while watching the July 4th children sailing race at the yacht club. The real reason to make this your next 4th of July destination is the Brumble Tree that was planted July 4th 1776 on your way into downtown. We had to wait for high tide to leave due to the channel being a little too shallow for our draft but we just enjoyed the good bar company and the view until then. We will be back every year!
