We stayed on a mooring for a month. Very nice area, the marina staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. The city of Gulfport is a short dinghy ride and has a quirky, Key West vibe. Restaurants, bars and shops are all within walking distance from the town dinghy dock. And don’t miss the Tuesday Market! The town dinghy dock is usually pretty full as it is shared with those on the moorings as well as those anchored outside the mooring field. And unfortunately, there are those who tie up with 2 foot painters. But, we always found a spot to tie up. The marina is a little ways from the mooring field. Depending on the winds, could be a wet ride. The laundry facilities are adequate, never had to wait to use one or both of the machines. The dinghy dock at the marina was great, never overcrowded. Provisioning is not close. Publix and other larger grocery stores were approximately 3 miles away, so not very convenient. There is plenty of public transportation, but with Covid in full swing, we chose to avoid that. The mooring field is pretty much protected from the north and east. Not very well protected from the south or west. Can be a bit rolly from the ICW traffic, mainly on the weekends. The city has a pump out boat that comes out to the mooring field on Tuesdays and Thursdays, no charge. During our month long stay, we received many packages delivered to the marina office and had no problems with them getting to us. When in Gulfport again, we would not hesitate staying here!
