I was at Champlin's from July 28th-31 as part of a Princess rendezvous. The Princess "event" was wonderful but the marina was not. The two bathrooms at the end of the dock ranged from filthy to out of order. The pool was closed half of the time due to poor maintenance. But what really made me mad was the lack of pricing transparency. The posted price on their website for a 55' boat was/is $9/ft weekdays and $10.25/ft weekends. I was charged a lump sum that was over $12/ft. I asked for an itemized bill 4 times and was told they could not provide one. I spoke to the dockmaster and he informed me there is small print on the website that says "base rates are subject to change during holidays, events and peak weekends". The fact that Princess held an event that brought in 34 boats to dock at Champlin's resulted in Champlins raising the dockage rate over 20% and never informing me of the change or providing documentation other than the overall charge through Dockwa. I find this practice unacceptable. Oh, I forgot to mention the Wi-Fi did not work either😩

We are so sorry about the disappointments during your stay. We did have a pump go out at the dock bar bathrooms and it did create quite a mess. We got the plumbers there as soon as we could the next day and got them cleaned up. We are sorry for the inconvenience of having to use the midship bathrooms during this time. The bathrooms are cleaned hourly but we will make an effort to check them more often. The pool was closed for most of one day as we got the new equipment in so that we could address the color issues. It truly wasn't due to "poor maintenance." We have been struggling with the color and clarity, but the pool has been safe to use and open. During your stay, it was fixed and was beautiful for the Princess Pool Party that was planned. In regards to the pricing and billing, you should have received a confirmation at the time of booking showing your total and your deposit. We double checked and your reservation rate was never changed, it was always the same on your reservation. Dockwa doesn't provide a "daily" breakout on the rates and we are sharing that feedback with them so that they know how unhappy you were with that and how it affected your stay. Our rates are fluid and based on availability at the time at which you book. We aren't able to offer group discounts during our peak season times and this was discussed with Princess Yachts when the arrangements were being made. We are glad to see how much of the Princess Event you did enjoy and we truly loved having all of you here for the weekend!
