Hartge claims to date from 1865. There is some confusion about whether the Hartge enterprise at this time is what we call a "marina" today, but the family was certainly in the boat building business at that time in the same area as the current marina. The marina passed into the ownership of anew family that owns a few other marinas and in the area and is fixing up many part that the original owners were reluctant to maintain. The also have boat maintenance done by a branch of the Hartge family and the boat maintenance is much better than before. The new management really cares and the place is now getting the upkeep it needs. While they don't have a pool, they have access to a pool nearby for boaters.

Marina Response:
Thank you so much for the great review! Hartge Yacht Harbor is absolutely a jewel on the Bay and the new ownership and management are working hard to restore it to its former glory. The Hartge family started their business of cabinetry and piano manufacturing in Galesville in 1865 after moving down from Baltimore and purchasing 400+ acres in the area. The Marina aspect of the operations really didn't get into full swing until the early 1900's, but the Hartge family business and harbor was established and operating in 1865. The new family that owns the marina can trace their roots in the area back to the 1630's and work very hard to preserve local historical sites and buildings. It has been exciting being able to restore this property and receive great reviews like yours that let us know we are doing the right thing.

Always a pleasure here. Nicest bath house I have ever seen at a marina. Great pool for a hot day with good view. New mostly floating docks are great with very capable dock hands. At the moment Wi-Fi at dock is not working great due to problems of merging system with nearby marina with now common ownership. However Wi-Fi in club house is better. If good Wi-Fi is vital during your stay check for an update when you book. Town has great cell service from antennas on water tower near marina ----- Stayed here again on 7/19/21. Everything still great except Wi-Fi which is better than before, but can be glacial at times when other people are active. Fortunately there is great cellular coverage from the nearby water tower. --- Stayed again on 10/10/22 Pool was obviously closed but service was as good as always. Wi-Fi was good but not a good test as marina was basically empty at this time of year. As a review posted outside the heads says, this place has the greatest showers on the Chesapeake! ========= Despite being owned by the huge Safe Harbor marina/RV park conglomerate, this marina continues to be top notch with an outstanding staff.

Marina Response:
Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed everything and we hope you will get to try out our pool next season!

Stayed at marina twice on July 2022 trip. Great as always. Surprised they had run out of ice for several days on the hottest period of summer. While they did offer rides to a nearby 7/11 at specified times, I would have thought a big corporate owner like Safe Harbor could have come up with better alternatives. The restaurant is now open again with outdoor seating option and is quite good. It would be nice if they could find a way to reopen bar/snack bar at pool that every misses. Oddly ship's store is now down to just caps and t shirts. Need head chemicals,TP, or sun screen? Need to wait for a ride to West Marine! Sign of too many accountants with sharp pencils!!

A charming basic marina near Reedville by water but far away by car or walking. Unusual honor system - a box where you can leave payment according to posted rates. Pick you own slip from those without a boat or dock lines. Charming owner. Clear toilets/showers. Dock in good condition. and clean. Marina next door has restaurant with limited hours but going by boat is much easier than circuitous walk. Nothing else within walking distance except a church. Close to menhaden processing factory which you probably can smell when they are making fish oil. They weren't the day were were there so can't describe from experience.

Arrived the day after Hurricane Isaisa which hit area near this marina pretty hard. My first visit there. Nice location, nice docks, good pool, friendly bar next to pool and near beach, but due to the circumstances no marina staff available as they were involved in repairs at marina and elsewhere. Couldn't even buy fuel! Wi-Fi not working due to problem with their internet supplier due to storm. Finally met a manager at the bar who was able to give me the code for the showers as well as explaining why there was no Wi-Fi. Clearly an exceptional set of problems due to storm but a partial refund of usual price might be a good gesture under these circumstances. If you want to get away and forget about COVID, this is a good place because none of the staff use masks and there are not reminders posted about "social distancing". However, when you leave property you will discover that over businesses in tUrbanna expect you to take reasonable COVID precautions!

Marina Response:
I don't normally respond to bad reviews however I take exception to this one. I'm sorry if we were preoccupied with repairs after a hurricane and an F2 tornado. The signs that were up asking you to keep your distance blew to Fredericksburg for all I know. The fuel dock was open for you and I was again, working when you left. Right beside where you were tied up. Considering what we went through the day before the fact that the tiki bar was open, the pool was open, we had power and water, I think we're doing pretty good. So no, to partial refunds.

Were underway when Hurricane Isaias started to look serious for Chesapeake area. Changed out plans to get to Crisfield and wait it out at Somers Cove - one of the most protected marinas I have ever seen! Except for holiday weekends, it rarely is crowded and turns out that you get free dockage during severe storms since it is a harbor of refuge for the nearby islands. Most docks are fixed, but transients get a floating dock. Warm greetings and good service but the marina itself does no boat maintenance. It does sell fuel and have free pumpout for transients. Great pool. Sadly Crisfield is not the most fascinating place in the word and has seen its better days. But the people are very friendly and the crabs are very fresh. They are trying to bring this historic town back - once the "seafood capital of USA". After hurricane, marina was temporarily cut off from town by flooding except for a route with a long detour.

Marina Response:
Thank you so much for writing a review. We enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you will come back soon!

A magical place! But to be real, the rest rooms are clean and OK, the restaurant has quirky hours and generally isn't open on week days, and it is in the middle of no where so forget about walking anywhere for shopping or eating. BUT it is the word's most protected basin in case of storms and has a beautiful beach - rare on Chesapeake as well as a pool net to beach with nice bar whidh also has a quirky schedule. Outstanding birdwatching with an eagle's nest near on of the docks and lots of osprey and great blue herons. Even some ducks.. Friendly helpful local staff.

Beautiful facility closer to town than others and includes 2 pools, one with bar and nice light meals. But management may be focused on condo apartments not boaters. Arrived Sunday PM. Office closed. No welcome packet, just key card to pools and heads. Dock crew friendly and enthusiastic but poor boat skills. Asked about ice, told to walk 3 blocks to Wawa. Actually further pool on property has free ice but no bags for it. Laundromat next to Wawa - first time no laundromat at marina this size and expensive.

Despite Dockwa listing showing "wireless Internet" there is none While the is a restaurant which is reasonably good, it is only open Thursday-Sunday. Nice pool, but water was oddly cloudy while we were there.
