It is a new marina. Not just under-staffed, the was zero staff. There was a guy there to rent kayaks who had no affiliation with the marina. He tried to be helpful but he had no knowledge of bathrooms or anything else. The next day, I saw that the dockmaster had sent me an email apologizing and saying he couldn't be there but relaying docking and bathroom info. That did me and apparently the other boaters no good because none of us knew what was going on (who reads email while navigating thru a canal?)
Needed a getaway during Pandemic and a trip to Haverstraw was perfect. Marina is easy to navigate, solid docks, well maintained slips with good electrical and cable boxes. They followed good safety precautions with signage limiting number of people in the office, safety plexiglass, reminders to wear masks and all staff wearing masks. The pool area was great and set up for social distancing. The bathrooms were freshly renovated, air conditioned and sparkling clean. None of the safety precautions felt intrusive. The staff was professional yet flexible--felt like concierge service. One of the dock staff (they seemed to be everywhere dressed in their uniform red shirts) informed us of the activities which that weekend featured fireworks in the next cove. I saw them assisting boaters with provisions and toting ice bags to boats. We did not make it to the restaurant (I should have made reservations). Followed another reviewer's recommendation and went to Union restaurant in town. All in all felt like a resort.
