Stayed in mooring field, but had FULL access to marina amenities. VERY NICE well kept, CLEAN marina for their boaters. My only wish, is that the city of marina could make the entrance was into their marina s"No Wake" zone. The whole mooring field is subjected to boat wake ALL DAY LONG. But other that, staff was nice, knowledgeable, and helpful even when they were busy.
This marina is NOT accommodating to transient boaters!! We were placed on a dock that was allowed to fly politically affiliated, foul languaged flags. The bathrooms are not clean, and I would NEVER shower in there. The laundry room was filthy and stinky. When asked employees regarding who cleans that area, I was told nobody knew, and nobody really cared. Rude attitude from girls in office. Who is in charge of this run down marina?!?!? Just walking to the restroom area is stinky with trash bins. THIS is not worth the money!!! However, the city of Ft. Myers beach remain to not be able offer any mooring balls because they allow people to park unattended boats to rot on their balls, and spend NO money around their area. Unfortunately there's not really any other choices in Ft. Myers beach for boaters when storms are impending. NOT going to be a cruiser's stop if they don't get things straightened out around here.
Although things have improved SOME since the city of Ft. Myers took over mooring field, it's still not all that good!! Have to still make reservations over DocWa. Was told in the morning that we were assigned to take ball #14. We are in a sailboat, so we started our journey from Cayo Costa right then because it's a 4-5 hours ride to Ft. Myer's Beach. By the time we were almost to Matanzas mooring field, we were told we were NOT going to get back #14 and there wasn't going to be a ball available that night. Sooooooooo, we were forced to get a slip in a marina for $100+ for the night. We got a ball assignment the next morning, but were told by our friends who had already gotten a ball that day, that we could have rafted off of them for the night. WE were not told this. $100+ compared to $17... Quite the difference!!! Thanks guys. Without a mooring ball assignment, there's not a lot of other options in the Ft. Myers beach area to anchor, so have to get a slip. Still need some fine tuning!!!! Just VERY frustrating!! Kay Barry
