Coecles Harbor Marina & Boatyard

Great spot to be on a mooring! Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Always an enjoyable stay here. The mooring field is very convenient to the marina, which has a small store (Eileen is most pleasant and helpful) and an adequate shower room with good pressure, hot water. If I plan to go ashore I always stay here. The anchorage in the southeast of the harbor is beautiful, well protected and with good holding ground. However, it’s a long dinghy ride to the town dock. Shelter Island is a wonderful place to bike around. It’s also an easy, inexpensive ferry ride away from Greenport. The ferry runs frequently throughout the day until midnight. Coecles Harbor Marina is at the top of my list for overnight mini-cruises from my homeport, Safe Harbor Pilots Point Marina, Westbrook CT.

Old school excellent

Coecles Harbor Marina is awesome. The people who work there are the best. Thoughtful, helpful and treat you like family. Before our visit, Rebecca called us to let us know that she found a perfect slip for us and our dog! A quaint little spot that I hope never changes.

Great moorings, love the overhead photo for our mooring location, excellent guidance on how to approach the harbor and deal with the 5' hump off Red 10. Did not use any services as there was a storm, but we felt snug and secure

Pool was nice, bathrooms and showers were very clean, staff especially the pool lifeguard were very friendly and helpful, area nice and quiet. Mooring cost per night was high but unfortunately not unusual for the east end of Long Island, shallow approach channels not effectively marked is on-going concern. We enjoyed our stay and will likely be back.

Dockhands were very helpful, however 2 out of 3 men's shower were out of service. Management wasn't interested or apologetic when told about this. Aesthetically, it's a commercial marina with no real curb appeal.

Everyone was so nice and personable. Thank you Celia for being so nice and helpful. And Gary for the use of your adapter. The bathrooms are clean w/ lots of showers. And bonus laundry! Was really nice to come back with clean, dry clothes. Beautiful area, wonderful stay!

We specifically called and asked for a "floating dock" because we have a 100 lb dog and i had 2 back surgeries last year. We were told they had a floating dock. The first slip was not a floating dock and we were moved to another slip which was not a floating dock either!!! Not sure where the disconnect was........The staff was very nice and helpful, especially Celeste. I think that was her name. The marina is kind of remote. Even coffee is a few miles away.

Wonderful marina very friendly staff. Everything is immaculately clean. A great place to stay off the beaten track but yet close enough to everything on shelter Island that with a quick shuttle or a bike ride, you can get to everything you might need.

This place is amazing. Quiet and picturesque. The showers were clean and well appointed. The pool was clean and refreshing. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. They took us to the ferry dock and to the store. All the staff were engaging and happy. I especially want to call out Connor who helped me fix my dinghy motor. I called to ask if they had a mechanic who could help me and Connor, the manager, said the mechanics were all very busy, but he would come out to my boat to take a look. He immediately diagnosed the problem of a shear pin and went back to the marina to get me a new shear pin and installed it for me at no cost. I have never experienced such great service. I will surely come back again.

If you want a marina that has a fancy restaurant, cocktail bar, spectacular pools and pretentious people… don’t come here! If you want a great marina in a great spot with clean bathrooms, great staff, very nice pool and a very laid back atmosphere… this is the place. Spent 3 days here and it was great. Staff answered all questions and took care of anything needed. The surroundings were beautiful. Super clean as well. The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it would be nice if the bathrooms were air conditioned. Other than that, it all was a 5 Star!

Reasonably priced marina with super friendly and helpful staff in a quiet, peaceful location on the East side of Shelter Island. Convenient bike rental on site enabled us to bike to local restaurants (about 2-4 miles away) and down the road from Mashomack Preserve (2 miles). Docks are not floating so be sure to bring enough line to tie up to pilings as you dock stern in with no finger piers, though it looked like marina had some extra lines on hand. Would return.

Not the best experience. These office staff was very friendly and helpful but the dock boy was not. The slips are very tight and is not a floating dock so you have to tie up to piling's. We were told there was a shuttle but were not told that we needed to make a reservation for the shuttle so we ended up walking a mile and a half back-and-forth to the restaurant since we could not get a taxi. If we visit shelter Island again we will likely try a different marina

We took full advantage of everything this great Marina had to offer. Pool, BBQ area and facilities where great!! The bikes and they offer where a fun way to get around the island. The staff was extremely helpful and super courteous!!

Love coming here whether on mooring or at the dock. We try to visit every boat season. Friendly and helpful staff. The docks are in good shape and no problems with electric or water. We had a group of 5 boats and it’s a great place to gather by the covered picnic tables and grills (bring charcoal). Very peaceful area. Bring bikes to get around. Shelter Island is fun to explore and you can take the ferry over to Greenport or Sag Harbor. There’s a dinghy dock and if you bring one you can explore Coecles Harbor.

Quiet clean marina with friendly people working there. Beautiful harbor. Restaurants are a bit far to walk but they will shuttle you one way. Then also have bikes and a electric cart that can be rented but they have to be back by 5 so you need a taxi at least one way for dinner. Taxi was easy to get.

Nice Marina and pleasant staff. A little pricey at $2.50 / foot for a mooring though. Used their rental golf carts to tour the island. That was great.

We stayed at Coecles Harbor Marina last year for the first time and loved it. This year we were a bit disappointed… The dockhand seemed annoyed with us because we were having difficulty getting into our assigned slip due to wind and rain. The pool was closed most of the time and when we were able to go in, the water was cloudy and the chairs around the pool were dirty. The restrooms were not cleaned during our 2 night stay. There was a blow dryer mounted on the wall in the ladies room, but it didn’t work. Nice quiet spot but definitely needs some maintenance.

We were so surprised to get a call from marina telling us about amenities and other information after we got our mooring assignment The showers were to die for and a huge bag of ice was so helpful!. A pleasure to return after 40 years! We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Very friendly marina, but I'm not happy that they charge by the foot rather than a fixed price for a mooring and don't provide launch service. You don't get much value for the what you pay here.

This was my second time staying at Coecles Harbor Marina. It was just as lovely as I remembered. It is a clean, quiet, serene place. The service is friendly and low key. There are bikes to rent, fun electric “cars,” and of course gorgeous views in the harbor. For those who want to decompress and enjoy the quiet beauty of shelter island on a mooring or dock, this is a perfect spot.

We arrived at 7:30 pm, unaware that they close at 5 pm. Ended up taking any mooring we found unoccupied. Had a little trouble going in at low tide, in an unmarked channel. They, or DOCKWA, should have informed us about these things as soon as I paid for the mooring or at least the day before. Checked with them in the morning to find out they have no launch service. There must be some "truth in booking", that DockWa is responsible for. Andy Papademetriou

Great staff. Accommodated my last minute request to change my reservation from mooring to slip since my generator unexpectedly decided not to function. What might have been a difficult situation instead became the perfect start of a very enjoyable weekend.

The marina is located in a beautiful spot in the harbor and was a picture perfect place to dock and stay overnight. The staff are soooo nice and helpful and the place is spotless and really well organized. We plan to stay there again in the near future.

Location is great. Dock staff was very helpful. Bathrooms could be cleaner and kept up with better. Garbage pails in bathrooms we’re full and the men’s room by the pool had no soap in the dispenser. They close the pool at 5:00 even though there’s plenty of great swim time left on a July evening. Shower is good though! Would still return because the spot is very nice.

First of all, the staff are great. No problem there. The heads and showers are also very nice. We were disappointed that the pool is not open until July 4 as it was a hot weekend in mid June and I booked the Friday and Saturday nights assuming, yes, my bad, that it would be open. Also the place could use a little sprucing up. It is a nice location if you bring bikes as we did. They do rent them. No food offerings but cold drinks in the store. ASK

A must see. Coeckles is very well protected in any weather, and extremely picturesque. Moorings all have high top pickups and are well maintained if a bit close. Shoreside facilities are clean, pool inviting, and Shelter Island a very special place.

Accommodative is the best word to describe this staff! A true gem is the best word to this marina. We had a wonderful stay here and will definitely make it a tradition. Clean, terrific location and really friendly dock neighbors.

The harbor is beautiful in a bucolic setting. The lack of amenities such as launch service or pumpout boat were overcome by the hospitality. We were given a ride into the IGA grocery store by an employee of the marina who waited while we grocery shopped (short list) and brought us back to the marina. Nancy in the office was informative and very hospitable. A word of caution, we used the tide chart for the race in Eldridge‘s book. This was off by an hour and a half and we skipped along the bottom getting in as this was a very shallow harbor and we only draw 6 feet.

Nice marina. Pool clean as well as showers. Nice electric cars to go into town. However the electric cars only lasted 2 hours and really didn’t find anyplace to plug in to recharge in town. Besides that great place to stay. Staff very accommodating

Classic boat yard - they make the Shelter Island Runabout (favored by Billy Joel) and has a great reputation for yacht maintenance (fortunately we did not need). We loved Coecles Harbor, and they are at the end of it - be brave about shallow water. Location is amazing - gorgeous coves, etc. We could dinghy to the kayak rental 'next door' and had a great day exploring the area. This was after a week on the water, so we appreciated the fuel dock, head pump-out, fresh water, and laundry - boat and crew refreshed! There are bike and car rentals for getting to town (a couple miles away) or for exploring the island by land. There is also a small chandlery.

Nice and quiet at the marina in September, just the way we like it! I appreciated the fact that they obliged my request for a T head spot on the dock. There was plenty of help tying up and they lent me an extra electrical cable when mine wouldn't fit into the enclosure.

Everything about Coecles Harbor was first rate except, and it is a big except, the dinghy dock, which is downright dangerous. Nice facilities, nice folks - they even will shuttle you to various destinations, but I'll won't be back until that dinghy dock is redone.

Absolutely beautiful. We rented an electric car at the marina office and saw a bit of the island and that was thoroughly enjoyable! Nice pool area and immaculate head facilities. Free Keurig coffee in the morning! Will definitely go back.

Took a mooring. $72 is a little pricey for no launch service. This is a pretty and very quiet harbor. Nice break from the crowds.

This is my new favorite place. Quiet. Dock staff (Ethan (#goblue)) that’s the most helpful and friendly on the east coast. Shuttle to twin, rental bikes, rental cars, a pool, laundry all right there. I can’t wait to go back. (PS, your shoal draft boat is fine in there).

Very quiet, beautiful harbor. The marina staff was helpful about information, and it was nice to get dropped off at a local restaurant. However, we learned the place was not open yet. Call first. Don't believe Yelp website. So, we waited an hour and had a good meal. The marina called us before confirmation to be certain we knew they did not have launch service. The staff goes home at 5:PM, but the shower/restroom facilities were open. The town dock a little distance from the marina is not open to non residents, so the marina is your only safe link to the shore. Perhaps we missed it, but a little flyer about that and other clues to this nice secluded location might be helpful. We were placed on a perfect mooring well spaced, and their directions with the reservation made the narrow entrance to the harbor easy to navigate. They have WiFi, but we forgot to ask for the password, and that could have been included in a potential welcome flyer. I would welcome a little later check out time. As check in time is 1:PM it seems 11:AM is early to leave. It is not as though they have to change the linen, vacuum the rug, wipe down the shower and stock toilet paper! It seems this time is standard now most everywhere, but unnecessary in my opinion. We certainly would return for a quiet stay.

A big Thank You to the folks at Coecles - first the marina is great in terms of location and overall scenery, quiet and calm, easy to get to with the tides. Second - I have noting but great experience with the staff - I got caught in a squall just off-Shelter Island this summer and the gusts ripped a hole in my Jib. After speaking with Schuyler he took a quick look, helped me get the sale down, shipped it to a sail loft in Greenport and called me next day that the sail is done and helped me put it back on, the cost of the whole thing was minimal. Overall I had a great experience, everyone around the marina was very helpful and forthcoming, communication was very clear and efficient, it gave me a lot of comfort in a situation where I did not have many resources around. Coecles is an awesome quiet place, I will definitely be back.

This is our second time staying at Coecles Harbor Marina. The facility is outstanding! Outdoor pool. Bicycles to rent, Electric cars to rent and van service to area beaches and restaurants. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Our stay at Coecles was fantastic. We have been here several times and will continue to visit whenever we can. The staff is very helpful and friendly and very attentive to our needs. I needed a repair to a wind instrument at the top of our mast and although the crew was very busy with regular customers Skyler and Conner took the time to operate a crane and hoist Skyler for the repair at very reasonable rates. Terrific facility and a beautiful location on Coecles Harbor. Also a working boatyard and builder. We snooped around CH Yacht builders and it was so interesting to see them constructing a 38 Shelter Is runabout. Friendly staff!

It's always a pleasure to stay at Coecles Harbor. The docking team is friendly and helpful, and Shelter Island is a gem Also, if you have a problem to fix, they have a knowledgeable team that can help.

No pumpout. Apparently not enough transients to getting the pumpout fixed. No launch. Impressive repair/restoration facility.

I've been coming out to Coecles Harbor Marina as a transient since 1998. First with a 38' Egg Harbor, now with a 30' Cape Dory sailboat. We just booked our first whole season here in no small part because they do such a great job. Over the years and in all my travels I can say that this is one of the most pleasant places my family has ever stayed. The staff is very friendly and extraordinarily helpful, my son always finds someone to hang out with. They really go the extra distance to take care of of their guests!

John, their electricial, is absolutely the best!!!!! Our boat had been diagnosed by S&S Marine from Old Saybrook as needing a new alternator and voltage regulator. Twenty minutes after arrival John arrived onboard and tested the system. I did not need a new $1200 system...a previous electrician had neglected to reconnect two grounding wires to the alternator. I was convinced I needed a new system as a result of the S&S's diagnsis...John could have sold me the new system but simply charged me for labor and a stainless steel nut! Honesty at it's best! I would recommend him to any sailor needing electrical repairs. Additionally, while John was working on my boat...my wife used the laundry facilities to tidy us up. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. My compliments. All I can say Thumbs Up for the entire crew at Cockles!!!!!

Having stayed at Coecles Harbor numerous times I can’t imagine why anyone would give this gem one star. Maybe those two negative reviewers below have ulterior motives? Anyway, the facilities are spotless, the marina staff is courteous and extremely helpful and the boatyard takes care of the nicest collection of Hinckleys and Herreshoff’s you’ll ever see collected in one place. Between the pool, laundry, picnic area and transportation options listed below what more could one want? We rented one of their electric cars and had a blast touring around the island. The two restaurants we tried were fantastic and the kids even got to play mini golf which is just a short walk up the street from the marina. If you are looking for a peaceful spot with beautiful natural surroundings give Coecles a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I would be hard pressed to give a Marina a better rating than Coecles Harbor. The staff is incredibly, professional, friendly, and helpful. I stopped by here for what I had originally planned on being a few days but ended up leaving my boat here for a few weeks. The harbor is very well protected and the marina facilities are extremely well maintained. Coecles Harbor Marina was a great joy to visit and I look forward to visiting again. The only downside was having to leave to go home!!
