Many thanks to Thames Yacht Club. The staff was extremely flexible and allowed me to stay much longer than I initially intended. This is a very charming club with a snack bar / grill, showers, launch and a small private beach. If I lived closer, I'd definitely join and call this place home.

The mooring was fine the greeting fine, the setting rather interesting and pretty. We did not go into the clubhouse, but passing it in the dinghy ion the way into another shore point to get dinner, but looked like a great place to visit. The problem is the mooring field is pretty exposed to several directions of wind. We caught a Northeast and it was bumpy. The passing and frequent ferries make a pretty good wake as they are going at a fair speed at that point upon entering harbor. We would go back again if the movement were not so great. Sorry.....

We stayed for two separate nights at the club and found it to be very good. The people and facilities are very nice. As noted in other reviews, the ferry traffic makes the water quite bumpy at times, but this does not continue through the night so sleeping was fine. We will stop in again when we are sailing in that direction.

We were welcomed warmly by both members and staff. I had engine problems and was helped to get securely moored despite the inclement weather.

Very helpful and friendly club! Moorings were in good shape and the reception prompt & responsive. Be warned, however, that there is no harbor breakwater in New London, so if there is a South wind, it will be lumpy. Also, a stiff ferry wake at 10 past the hour from 0710 to 2110 :)

One of the friendliest clubs I’ve been in a long time. Wish I could have my boat there all the time. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Sailing Catamaran - 44' X 25' X 4' Tied up to a ball here for what we intended to be a couple of nights while we explored Mystic and took care of some logistics in Groton. Our boat was large enough to be assigned to a "tub" - a flat type of mooring ball with two painters. We have a bridle, so we just clipped our lines through both painters. Reserved easy enough on Dockwa, then hailed TCY on VHF 71 and Father Rick came out on the launch and guided us to our "tub" mooring. Easy. Once we got tied up, though, we began to experience the most violent roll and chop we've had in a mooring field (and we're in a cat! You should've seen the monohulls!). We actually had drawers that weren't locked fly out of cabinets and bottles topple off galley surfaces on frequent wakes from passing speed boats. The dinghy dock also convulses violently, so much so that they've set up a system for members - a network of lines that allows them to connect their dinghy/tender fore and aft along a line that holds them away from the structure. We cancelled the final day of our reservation and continued up Long Island Sound partly because of the weather, but partly because the motion while moored was more than we like. The folks at TYC were great! Shout out to Beth - a life-time mariner who went out of her way to ensure we had what we needed to get provisioned and get to Mystic.

We left our boat here for 5 days on a mooring to wait out a storm on our trip south. Cute little yacht club, if I lived in the area I’d join in a second! Nice spot to Leave a boat unattended. It’s a bit rough in the outer mooring field, but we did not sleep on the boat so it was a non issue. Jesse, the launch Capt. was such an awesome help!!! THANK YOU Jesse for all your assistance!!

Very pleasant staff food was great from their galley. Nice beach. Great place for kids. Only issue is there is not a no wake zone. So a little bit rocky during the night
