The Third Street Bascule Bridge connects north and southbound vehicular traffic across Islais Creek Channel on the east side of San Francisco. There is currently construction of a new bridge in the area, as visible in the images above.

Characteristics: The bridge has a five-foot closed vertical clearance with 95 feet of horizontal clearance in the center span when open. The bridge has unlimited vertical clearance when open.

The bridge requires one-hour advance notice to open, and can be contacted on VHF Channel 09. Alternatively, the phone number to reach the bridge tender is 415-597-7998.
