One of many man-made harbors that dot the South Grand Bahama shoreline between Freeport and the Grand Lucayan Waterway, the Silver Point Inlet allows boaters access to the Silver Point Beach resort area and the Running Mon Marina and Resort, which is located straight off the approach channel on the north side of the multi-branched harbor.

Though currently for sale, the Running Mon Marina and Resort is well-equipped to handle boats up to 70 feet in length. Once you have tied up, you can access the resort facilities ashore if you need a break from the boat, or enjoy slip-side shore power, cable TV and telephone service.

Ashore the marina has laundry and restrooms/showers, a pool, and a repair yard with a 40-ton Travelift. There are some facilities that are temporarily closed until ownership is transferred (liquor store, fuel dock, ships store).

Silver Point Inlet is easy to enter, but unfortunately, the depth over the sill to the inlet is a shallow four feet, preventing some deeper-draft vessels from accessing the harbor. To approach the area, set up to intercept the area around waypoint 26 29.105N 78 41.292W. Once you have arrived near the waypoint, set a course of 339 true for about a half-mile until you see the red marker (visible in the image above) on the east inlet jetty. Shoaling can also be seen above at the northern end of the stone jetties; this is where the shallower four-foot depths are located. Inside, depths of nine feet are the norm.
