Introduction:
Falmouth Inner Harbor and the town of Falmouth are located six miles north of Vineyard Haven and are only four miles around the corner from Woods Hole. Falmouth Inner Harbor is the first Cape Cod South Shore harbor with facilities traveling east from Woods Hole. Inside the harbor you will find nine marinas and marine facilities offering a variety of services in a well protected and nicely maintained harbor setting.

The image above is a view from the south looking north over the entrance to Falmouth Inner Harbor. Just to port on entry is Patriot Party Boats, which has diesel fuel available.
“Upstream” from the opening are eight more marinas with varying levels of service. There are three marinas that accept transient guests, and additionally, there are moorings available for visiting boaters. If you are in need of fuel or repairs, there are four marinas with lifts for haul-out and repair, and four marinas with both gas and diesel fuel.

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 13229.

Falmouth Inner Harbor is reached via an approach from the south through the north Vineyard Sound Channel. Approaching from the south, first set a course for flashing red bell buoy “16,” which is located at an approximate waypoint of N41 32.035 W70 36.498.

Once you have successfully navigated your way to flashing red bell buoy “16,” set an approximate course of 16 degrees magnetic for about a half-mile where you will see flashing green “1” on the west inlet jetty. Depths in the inlet between the jetty and in the harbor are reported at six feet.
