Crescent City Harbor District Awarded Grant By MARAD

On October 29 2022, The United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) awarded The Crescent City Harbor District $7,366,566.00 as a grant. The funding was disbursed on a competitive basis to projects that were determined to have the greatest potential to improve movement of goods within the USA’s ports, as part of a nationwide Port Infrastructure Development Program. The goal of this program is to help alleviate supply chain problems within the USA.

The funds will largely be used to replace a seawall that runs perpendicular to Citizens Dock, which enables safe unloading of Dungeness Crab every season by protecting truck transportation routes and parking areas from damaging waves, tides, and erosion. The seawall also formerly included a public hoist for moving cargo, which CCHD also hopes to replace.

The MARAD grant funds will ensure that the outer harbor’s infrastructure continues to be safe and modernized for years to come. Congrats Crescent City Harbor District!
