Introduction:
The Mare Island Drawbridge Lift Bridge is the first bridge you will encounter on the northward passage up the Napa River. The Carquinez Bridge is visible in the southerly image above.

Navigating the Bridge:
Use NOAA Chart 18654.

The bridge has a closed vertical clearance of 13 feet and an open vertical clearance of 100 feet, when the span is lifted to its full height. There is 140 feet of vertical clearance in the center span and 19-foot depths in the bridge channel.

Bridge Schedule:
The bridge operates on a restricted opening schedule. The bridge operates 16 hours a day, except from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and again from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. daily. The bridge requires two hours advance notice to open. The bridgetender can be contacted on VHF Channel 09, or alternatively via phone at 707-562-3556.
