Boating and water sports were popular in the Napa Valley long before it became a famous tourist destination with over 400 world class wineries. Since before the 1849 Gold Rush, the Napa River has been a vital link between the Sacramento Delta and the Pacific Coast.
Organized in 1987, the Napa Valley Yacht Club continues to connect the boating community around the Bay by hosting hundreds of yacht club members and their boats every year. Our club is a short walk to a revitalized downtown Napa with its lively arts scene, gourmet restaurants and wine-tasting rooms. We are a dedicated group of fun-loving volunteers. The club is open every Friday evening for cocktails and dinner for members and guests. Membership includes over 100 families.
In 1998 Napa County Voters passed Flood Control Measure A to provide funding to protect Napa from flooding. Two new bridges, the First St. Bridge and Third St. Bridge, span the Napa River downtown. The Maxwell lift bridge downriver from the clubhouse has been replaced by a four-lane fixed span that limits the height of large sailboats sailing upriver to 60' at high tide. At mid to high water the river appears wider than the navigable channel because of bank terracing and tree removal. The Coast Guard has added new markers. Completion of the continuing project has been delayed by budget constraints.
NVYC is a great place to stay. We had another fabulous Bottlerock! Thank you to Robert, Greg, and the team! Great work!’
Lovely location, great folks/service, we will return for sure....thanks.
We always enjoy our stay at the Napa Valley Yacht Club. Very nice people and very helpful. Highly recommended!
Great dock, power supply excellent, and solid wifi. Port captains meet met us at the dock and helped tie up the boat. Plus great location. Walk to restaurants and bars. We will go back.
Great location, 50 amp power on the dock, easy access, friendly staff and volunteers! Will definitely be back!
minimum of two. High Quality Port Captains to guide you in and help secure your vessel. The docks are high quality and powe and water plentiful! Great club on Fridays and full bar and dining!. Amazing members! Thank you
Great mourning to enjoy Napa, a short walk from downtown, we really enjoyed our stay.
Fantastic people and convenient location to downtown. Three stars due to their website and conversations we had with them prior to booking about depth at their dock. Person on the phone said there was no issues with a 6’ draft at their dock. On their website, the Commodore says “Our Napa River channel has been dredged so that dockside we have a 7 foot depth at MMLT.” Once arriving, we were told it is 4’ MLW at the dock with a soft bottom. The 4’ is correct. Deeper draft boats beware!
We had a terrible start on this trip to Napa. Our throttle broke as we left home and instead of cancelling, we took the solid wind to continue sailing. NVYC folks as usual were very kind and positive in their response that we were probably going to be arriving much later than planned. They stayed around to our arrival around 9 and were very helpful. With our debilitated boat we decided to stay another day and the NVYC folks were very welcoming. Many thanks! This will be our 4th vacation stay. Many thanks!
Port Captain and Commodore met us at the dock, took our lines and issued. Us a key. Told us about the local sights and made tour suggestions. Great service!
Treated rudely. Forced us into side ties when we were told and promised stern docking. Handed useless marketing packets that contained a Tide book for 2020!!
There were nine boats, so we tied off stern-wise. The NVYC port captain was very efficient and helpful
We stayed two nights at the NVYC this past weekend. It was a terrific experience. Glen met us at the dock as we came up the river; he could not have been nicer. Helped us alight and tie up, showed us the facilities. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. The club is an easy, 15 minute walk to downtown and its attractions, which are plentiful (stopped by Sweetie Pies bakery each morning for a coffee and some pastries). There is a public dock on the riverfront if you prefer to go that way. It's free for three hours. The dock is easily approached and easily left when it's time to go. We were a bit nervous because of rumours of difficult navigation on the Napa River, but it was actually pretty easy. We will definitely come back.
Great hospitality! ...and dockwa requires me to enter 20 more characters - so there! -stupid.
Our stay was very pleasant. Bob was very helpful in planning our trip and welcoming us to the club upon our arrival. We will definitely return soon!
Great location, close to restaurants and town, friendly and helpful members. A+ experience.
Very nice. We’ll be back again. Excellent support when we arrived. Would be nice if they could get an ice machine. Super clean bathrooms!
Bob and team were awesome! Great place to stay up the river!
Very friendly staff/leadership. Dock is in excellent condition and the team was very helpful bringing us in. Bathroom was very clean and nicely done. Five stars if they add a shower!
We had a great time. The port Captain was great also. Thanks it would have been better if the club was open but we understand. Let’s hope that things get better soon. Thanks again
Absolutely the best place to stay in Napa if you have a boat! The NVYC Port Captain always contacts us in preparation for our stay and meets us when we dock. The Commodore and members will make you feel its your home port.
Everything was great. The Port Captains stayed in contact and were very helpful. Nancy did a great job on the Salmon for dinner on Friday night. Hal
Charming yacht club overlooking the Napa River. Greg was very welcoming and helpful. Thank you Greg!
We had a great time! It would be even better if you added a shower to the larger bathroom. Being on a cruise out for three days without a shower is tough for some.
