Introduction:
An idyllic commercial lobster village with few services for cruisers, Sawyer Cove still remains popular as it is fairly well-protected, and there is one marine facility that can undertake emergency repairs with a 17-ton lift here. The small town of Jonesport lines the shores and has limited provisioning available through a few small convenience/grocery stores.

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 13326.

A fixed bridge with a 39-foot vertical clearance limits passage through Moosabec Reach for tall vessels approaching from the west. If you cannot clear the bridge, consider another harbor or approach from the east past Kelley Point.

Passing Kelly Point heading west, you must honr each and every one of the nun and can buoys marking the passage to deeper water until you reach flashing green buoy “17” marking House Ledge. From here, plot a northwest course to flashing red “18,” which marks the entrance to Sawyer Cove on the east breakwall. Six- to eight-foot depths are available inside, but you will compete for space with the local lobster boat fleet.

Local Notices to Mariners:
Local Notices to Mariners are now exclusively available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
