Introduction:
Shortys Slough is located off of the north side of Fort Pierce Inlet. A series of red and green daybeacons lead back through a shallow channel to a marina and ramp area. Currents in the area are strong and a close eye on your position is necessary as you enter to ensure you stay in channel.

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 11472.

Approach from the north side of the Fort Pierce Inlet. Green daybeacon “1” and red daybeacon “2” mark the entrance to Shortys Slough on the north side of the Fort Pierce Inlet. Once clear of the west side of Coon Island, a series of red and green daybeacons mark the five- to seven-foot deep channel toward Cook Point. A marina is located on Jim Island past Green Daybeacon “11.”
