Introduction:
Stutts Creek is located off the southern portion of Milford Haven about two miles south of Gwynn Island and 12 miles north of Mobjack Bay. While most of Stutts Creek has good depths, the Matthews Yacht Club is the only marina on this beautiful, quiet creek. The facility does accept transient guests and has a fuel dock with gas only. If you’re into dropping the hook for a good night’s rest, there are plenty of places to throw over the anchor for the night.

The image above is a view from the west looking east over the opening to Stutts Creek toward Milford Haven. The Chesapeake Bay can be seen beyond the extensive shoals that lie south of Gwynn Island. The large forested point on the upper right is Lilley’s Neck, while Fanneys Point appears just to the left (east) of the opening

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 12235.

The approach to Stutts Creek is from the east via Milford Haven. Green daybeacon “1” and red daybeacon “2” mark the beginning of the creek just north of the tip of Lilleys Neck near waypoint N37 28.162 W76 16.689. Once you have intercepted green daybeacon “1” and red daybeacon “2,” head to the southwest and pick up green daybeacon “3,” where you will continue on to find red daybeacon “4,” which is south of Fanneys Point.

From here you can head farther upstream to find Matthews Yacht Club near green daybeacon “7,” or find a protected area out of the channel to drop the hook.
