Introduction:
One of several bodies of water breaking off marina-rich Greenwich Bay in the northern part of Narragansett Bay, Warwick Cove is located on the northern end of Greenwich Bay behind Warwick neck and has 10 marinas packed along its shore right to its head. Warwick Cove and the town of Warwick are located 10 miles southeast of Providence and 15 miles northwest of Newport.

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 13221.

From the center of Warwick Cove, pick up flashing green buoy “1” at Round Rock about a half-mile south of Warwick Point. From here, plot a course north to green can “3,” and then to green can “1” at the beginning of the approach channel to Warwick Cove. Green can “1” is followed by red nun “2,” red nun “1,” green can “3” and two more unnumbered green can buoys at the sharp turn into the cove (visible in the image above).

Once inside the dogleg turn that protects the cove from southerly winds, the marinas line just about each and every nook and cranny of the cove. Of the 10 marinas here, seven of them have facilities for transient guests. Located in a residential area, Warwick Cove is a great place to tie up for the night, but with its remote location, provisioning can be a challenge without the assistance of a cab or marina courtesy car (if available).

Local Notices to Mariners:
Local Notices to Mariners are now exclusively available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
