Introduction:
McHeard Cove is a small, quiet pocket of water north of Long Island off of Blue Hill Bay. Mainly a collection of moorings and a small anchorage ares, there is a marine facility at the head of the cove providing limited services. Blue Hill Harbor is only a few miles to the south.

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 13316.

Approach from the south. Red nun buoy “6” marks Darling Ledge, which lead out south of Darling Island. Leave this to port, and then set a north course for McHeard Cove, keeping a close lookout for lobster floats and anchored/moored boats along the way.
