Introduction:
Orrs Cove is a protected body of water at the end of Quahog bay near the town of East Harpswell. It is 20 miles northeast of Portland and 10 miles east of East Portland. The cover serves as a popular anchorage (moorings also available), and there is a marina at the head of the cove with all fuels and full service repairs.

Navigating the Water:
Use NOAA Chart 13290.

Approach Orrs Cove by starting your way up Quahog Bay near Yartmouth Ledges. Keep in mind that the entire Casco Bay area is dotted with hundred of unmarked (and sometimes uncharted) rock ledges.

Once in Quahog Bay, keep and eye on the chart and your depth sounder, working your way up the western side of the bay, making sure you honor red nun “4,” which marks South Ledges just below Pole Island. Past Pole Island, depths shallow, but generally remain in the eight- to 15-foot range all the way to the head of Orrs Cove.

Local Notices to Mariners:
Local Notices to Mariners are now exclusively available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
