Boothbay Harbor |
Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club (BHYC) in mid-coast Maine has been celebrating yachting for over 125 years, welcoming boaters who want to experience the fabled Downeast cruising grounds and picturesque Boothbay Harbor.
We have guest moorings available - up to 4,500 lbs. Mooring fees are $50 per night for vessels up to 60 feet. Water and electricity are available at the dock. The dockside depth is 14 feet at low tide. We're a short taxi ride into town, or a 1.3-mile walk. Our club stewards provide launch service from the Club's docks during the season, generally from 0900 hrs. to sunset (more limited hours early and late season). Visitors have access to the Club's dining room and bar, wi-fi network, showers, coin-operated laundry, and on-site post office.
BHYC is home to over 300 members and families and is the perfect destination for visiting sailors. With extensive guest moorings and a full-service clubhouse, BHYC hosts both individual yachts and affiliate clubs with ease.
We were confused as to the location of the club and were guided in once we were in the right area. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful and quiet location.
Excellent! Wonderful facility. Secure moorings. Dock master came out to direct us to the proper mooring. Nice dinghy ride across the harbor to town.
We had a great time. Launch service was excellent as was the food and bar. Looking forward to our next visit.
Love this yacht club so much we came for one night and stayed for four. We will return!
Excellent staff and beautiful club.
Peter the dock master could not have been any accommodating and gracious. The dock was a bit old but the cleats were well secured. The bathrooms/showers could use a major freshening up. Including the removal of the coin operated showers.
We contacted by radio as directed. “ I’m busy right now, I’ll check when I’m finished”. After 15 minutes he came out in the launch looking at moorings until he finally pointed at one for us to take. It appeared he had no idea we were coming and no idea what he had available. We tried calling on the telephone but the stewards line was always unavailable.
This is a delightful spot to enjoy a mooring. The mooring field is nicely protected from the prevailing southwesterlies and from the hustle and bustle of downtown BH, yet it is a short dinghy ride into town. The restaurant is great too, staff and management are very friendly. Great walking area. If you have time, a short cab ride to the Botanical Gardens is a nice adventure.
They responded quickly yo a last minute request for a mooring. Their tender showed us where it was. Didn’t initially see the small round numbered disc. Nice roomy guest mooring at the outside of their mooring field. Great spot!
BBHYC is a very welcoming place. It’s so kind of them to provide access to their facilities and launch. Showers always a great part of the stay.
Excellent! Highly recommend it. And had a great meal at the Club with some new friends. Lot of fun! And met up with some old friends in the mooring field.
Absolutely the best experience. Friendly and a fantastic club, welcomed in and felt at home immediately.
Nice facility with a launch, restaurant and showers. We were here for a storm so things were closed down. It is about 1.3 miles from town which is walkable with a small sidewalk but a little far from the grocery store (1.6 miles) It is located in a nice quiet area of West Boothbay away from all the touristy things. Will return again!
Great launch service and showers. Rental moorings are on the outer edge of the mooring field and would be rough in a strong S’ly.
Great club and launch service. Had dinner at the Club last night and it was very good.
Took a large mooring at outside edge of mooring field. One long think pennant with tiny barnacles on it so I wore gloves. Pennant was long and easy to get on deck and put our dock lines on. It is so protected in there, we were just hanging in the water, not pulling the lines in the am. Less than a mile to the foot bridge dinghy dock and town. Recommended. We are a 54 ft sailboat
The members and staff were wonderfully welcoming. Five of us had dinner at the BHYC and the meal was terrific. Many members including the next Commodore came up to greet us. We hope to be back next year with a bigger group!! Thanks, Peter Driscoll , Michael Mariner and Peter Holmes.
The facilities are great, the harbormaster was very good, helpful and very responsive. The mooring we had was on the outer edge of the field and we experienced an uncomfortable few hours on each change of tide when the current and swell did not play nicely. There were a couple of larger yachts anchored off using flopper stoppers for that reason. Great area to provision. Update. The moorings and stay were disappointing. The first mooring we were directed to the Mooring line was covered in barnacles. Picked that up shut down and settled and was then a directed to a heavier mooring but further out. This line too was covered in barnacles. We could have gone a further 100’ and anchored. The mooring is way out and exposed to the South. We deployed flopper stoppers to mitigate some of the roll. Without some serious stabilization tackle the moorings would be be untenable. Cell service is marginal. Restaurants and shops are at the far side of the harbor.
We came in, caught a ball, and left the next morning. The service was very friendly, but we didn’t have a chance to use any of the amenities. The only reason I didn’t give a five was because our experience was so limited.
Nice yacht club. Pretty quiet this year , as one would expect
BHYC steward Paul was very helpful and the mooring was well protected.
Rather disappointing. Saw launch operator for3 seconds and that was it. Dolphin marina was far more welcoming and they provide muffins and coffee in the am cheaper.
It a nice quite area, close to Boothbay waterfront but not too close. The yacht club staff are very nice
Excellent - beautiful harbour and great yacht club and harbourmaster!
We love BHYC, a quiet protected location in the harbor. A beautiful YC with good facilities for cruising sailors. Very welcoming, and a restaurant open to transient sailors. Except of coursr during YC events.
Very friendly and convenient! Can get fuel nearby. Easy launch service and nice walk to town.
Responsive dock staff and excellent dinner at club. Quiet part of otherwise busy harbor.
Fret location enjoyed the launch driver Ron! The BHYC provides a nice stop over for transient vessels. Thank you for the hot shower!
Used a mooring and had no issues. The location is very exposed to wave action in the harbor and we rolled quite a bit during our stay. Easy access to town using our tender and a good public dock available in town. Actually one of the best WiFi connections we have had.
BHYC staff very courteous and accommodating. Their chef is excellent! Highly recommend mooring at BHYC!
Friendliest Club we have ever visited. Great location a little bit away from town. Very easy dinghy ride to shopping and dining.
Friendly and helpful, hats off to the steward!
