Caspar was once a booming logging town and the landing pictured above was the site where redwood logs were rafted and loaded aboard ships for mill markets farther south. This is a popular area with kayakers who enjoy exploring the rocks and jagged cliff scenery.

Caspar Anchorage has 20- to 50-foot depths, but the surf and rolling waves can make it uncomfortable at times. There are no facilities here, and any exploring ashore will require a rough-and-tumble dinghy ride in the surf ashore.
