The Northwest Shore of Providenciales (“Provo” for many) is by far the most remote and isolated area on the island. Pictured above is North West Point and the North West Point Pond Nature Reserve.

To the east (right) of North West Point is False Cut (the darkened area of water), and in the lower portion of the image you can see the road that leads to Atlantis Village, the only real place with semi-established facilities in these parts. This area is also known as Malcolm Roadsted, where an old TV set replete with Tiki huts is located. There is an anchorage offshore here, too. Wiley Cut allows access to another anchorage and is a bit farther south of Malcolm Roadsted.

The Tiki Huts ashore at Atlantis Village are your landmark for the anchorage at Malcolm Roadstead, which is located west and south of North West Point. Simply set a course toward shore, and drop the hook in 10 to 15 feet. Winds out of the north or west can make things quite uncomfortable here.

Wiley Cut is a bit farther south, and you can find anchorage here among the coral heads in 7- to 8-foot depths. You will need to be careful, however - there are many coral heads and reef outcrops that lurk just beneath the surface. One person on the bow looking out for danger is the best approach here.
