Introduction:
This is the main thorofare for shuttling heavy equipment and supplies to and from the JFK Space Center. Spent solid rocket boosters, rocket frames and other various material for the space program are normally shipped on rail and pass over this bridge.

Navigating the Bridge:
Use NOAA Chart 11485.

The bridge has a closed vertical clearance of seven feet with 90 feet of horizontal clearance at the center span. Depths inside the channel range from six to eight feet. Approaching from the north, flashing green “19” marks the bend toward the opening, and from the south, flashing red “26” is your mark.

Bridge Schedule:
The bridge is normally left in the open position, except in the case of approaching rail traffic (infrequent).
