Introduction:

The Dodge Island Railroad Bascule Bridge is located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Miami at Mile Marker 1089.4. The bridge is normally left in the open position otherwise.

Navigating the Bridge:

Use NOAA Chart 11467.

Southbound, the approach to the bridge first crosses under the Dodge Island Bridge, which has a fixed vertical clearance of 66 feet. The channel is shallow on both sides, and deeper-draft boats are advised to keep aimed on the center span of both bridges.

The bridge is normally open, but will close for approaching rail traffic.
