Introduction:
Hawks Nest Creek is located on the west side of the southern end of Cat Island. Inside the creek is the Hawks Creek Marina and farther on, an anchorage that is well-protected, but affords poor holding.

Navigating the Water:
On approach to Hawks Nest Creek, set a course for waypoint 24 08.600N 75 31.899W, which is approximately three-tenths of a mile southwest of the entrance. Once you have picked up the waypoint, set a course of 51 degrees true to pick up the red nun buoy at the entrance to the creek, which is visible in the image above just off the rock ledge on the right (southeast).

From the red nun buoy, you can safely proceed into the creek and anchor past the Hawks Nest Marina (swift currents and poor holding - make sure you have a good set), or head into Hawks nest marina itself and tie up for the night. Depths throughout most of the creek range from four to six feet, but shallow quickly about three-tenths of a mile east of the marina past the anchorage.

A small airstrip is nearby, and to the north of the airport is a anchorage (not very well protected) that is good for day use if the wind is not blowing out of the north.
