Neguntatogue Creek is located on the south shore of Long Island off Great South Bay about six miles west of Fire Island Inlet and 12 miles east of Jones Beach. Seemingly every inch of Naguntatogue Creek’s shore is lined with marinas, boats and marine facilities, and of the five large facilities here, four of them make their slips available to transient guests. There are two large repair facilities on either side of the creek’s opening that can handle most any boat repair you may require, including haul-outs.

There are spots in the creek with three-foot depths, so this is primarily a powerboat area (as the image above suggests), but shallow draft sailboats can proceed with caution.

Neguntatogue Creek Inlet is approached from the south via the the Great South Bay channel, which runs from the Robert Moses Causeway all the way east to Unqua Point at the town of Nassau Shores. This channel is fairly well marked, but it has spots long its length that shoal to depths of one foot or less. The prudent mariner travels with a current copy of the NOAA chart for the area and a functioning depth sounder.

Like many locations along this stretch of Great South Bay between Babylon and Nassau Shores, Naguntatogue Creek is reachable from the State Boat Channel to the south via Amityville Cut and Fox Creek Channel. These passage cut across Great South Bay from the south at two different locations.

From the Great South Bay Channel, flashing green buoy “9” marks the approach entrance to the creek. Inside the creek are five marinas of varying sizes (four of them accept transients). A large repair/marina facility that can handle haul-outs and heavy-duty repairs is located on the east shore of the creek.
