About Us
The Barcadere Marina is being built as a first class, environmentally and ecologically friendly, marina offering recreational and commercial boaters a comprehensive combination of services and amenities never previously offered in the Cayman Islands. The marina is located in George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, and is literally less than 1 minute from the international airport and only a few minutes from the downtown port facility and cruise ship landing. The Barcadere Marina is being developed and managed by Scotts Landing, which is a part of the Scotts Group of companies (Scotts Industries, Scotts Marine, Scotts Automotive & Scotts Landing).Scotts Industries Ltd. was started in 1975 by two brothers, Stanley and Anthony Scott, originally from Cayman Brac. Starting with one truck and a Ford backhoe they laid the foundations, both literally and figuratively, for what would eventually become one of the Cayman Islands Largest Heavy Equipment operations, Scotts Equipment Ltd., while Scotts Industries Ltd. evolved into a retail and service business, selling construction equipment and parts with distributorships and dealerships for various well known brands.
In 1976 they purchased a Ben Pearson Pipe bending machine and started Scotts Exhaust Systems, which eventually evolved into what is now Scotts Automotive, after securing dealership for various tire and battery brands.
In 1985 Scotts Industries bought the dealership for Mercury marine products, and opened Scotts Marine Scene, a small but capable marine sales and service center, which in turn evolved into Scotts Marine and now represents some of the most respected brands in the marine industry.
The Barcadere Marina was conceived by the need to bring Scotts Marine to the waterfront, where customers can enjoy the panoramic view of North Sound, with easy boat access to many of the island’s key attractions such as Stingray City, the Sand Bar and Rum Point; which can all be seen in the distance from the marina’s pier. Having been in the marine business for over 20 years, this is a natural evolution for Scotts Marine to come home to the waterfront.
