Palm City is located off the South Fork of the St. Lucie River near Okeechobee Waterway Mile Marker 10. The image above is a view from the south looking north across the South Fork of the St. Lucie River, the city of Stuart and farther on, the southern fringes of Port St. Lucie. The Atlantic Ocean is visible in the upper right (east) corner of the image where a long string of white buildings line the Intracoastal Waterway north of Jensen Beach. The Palm City Bridge (fixed vertical clearance 55 feet) is clearly visible just north of the entrance to the St. Lucie Canal in the center portion of the image.
The Riverwatch, Marine Max and Monterey Inn marinas are located on the east side of the Palm City Bridge near the mouth of the St. Lucie Canal and have slips for transient guests. Additionally, the Riverwatch facility has gas and diesel fuel and a 60-ton lift for haul-outs and related repair services. Boats do anchor out on the west side of the South Fork, but the area is open to wakes and strong winds from the north and south.
Use NOAA Chart 11428.
Approaching the Palm City area from the south, you will exit into the South Fork of the St. Lucie River near Okeechobee Mile Marker 10. Red daybeacon 34 and flashing green 33 lead you through the channel in between two tree filled islands and up toward the Palm City Fixed Bridge. Visible in the images above, two shoals extend north off these two islands toward the bridge, so make sure you are well clear to the north before turning to the east toward the marinas at the base of the bridge.
Heading farther north takes you to the split of the St. Lucie River The cluster of bridges near the top of the image above), and a turn to the east here will lead you down the St. Lucie River toward the St. Lucie Inlet, Intracoastal Waterway and the beginning of the Okeechobee Waterway.
