Introduction:

Eau Gallie is situated off the Indian River on the Florida’s East Coast 23 miles southwest of Cape Canaveral and 10 miles northwest of the city of Melbourne. Eau Gallie is a fine stopover town on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and because of its central position on the ICW, the town has made itself desirable to visiting mariners by establishing good marinas and shops for provisioning ashore.

Navigating the Water:

Use NOAA Chart 11472.

Eau Gallie is approached just south of the Eau Gallie Bridge (65-foot fixed vertical clearance) near ICW Mile Marker 915. From the ICW, first pick up flashing red “2,” which is located about two-tenths of a mile south of ICW Mile Marker 915. Once you have picked up flashing red “2,” set a course to intercept green daybeacon “1,” and then follow in green daybeacon “3,” green daybeacon “5,” and flashing red “6” into the town of Eau Gallie and the Eau Gallie River.

The first marina is located to the north just past green daybeacon “11,” and is followed by several more marinas before you reach the 12-foot fixed vertical clearance bridge, which sets the overhead clearance for the river. The largest marina, which accepts transient guests, is located just south of the 12-foot fixed vertical clearance bridge (visible in the image above). Anchoring is permitted on the south side of the harbor and the anchorage is fairly well protected from wind and waves.
