The lighthouse at Lighthouse Point, Florida. We are lucky to have this beautiful lighthouse to look at everytime we leave on a voyage and, even better, every time we return home.

This is my local harbor, Orient, Long Island, NY from about 15,000 feet as we flew back from Italy. Quite a thrill to fly directly over one's hometown on approach to JFK, NYC. Lower left corner is Bug Light at entrance to Little Bay and Greenport Harbor. Restored lighthouse maintains USCG beacon, 68 ft above the water. Myself and buddy from Shelter Island are the current lighthouse keepers. We maintain the building, USCG maintains the light. Lower right is Plum Gut, treacherous waters but great striper fishing.

As referenced above, this is a view of Bug Light from Orient Harbor. Lighthouse lovers can get close to the lighthouse by visiting Orient Point State Park and hiking along the beach to within a few hundred feet of the light. More info available by contacting the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation, Greenport, NY which owns the lighthouse.
