Idling in front of the marina, looking it up on Dockwa after a nasty ocean run, I saw Trump signs posted at the gas dock. I'm not opposed to folks having a political position or business owner donating to a particular candidate, but I don't think a) it should be used to say, this gas is only for Trump fans (aren't we boaters all patriotic Americans who need fuel?), and b) I don't think politics should be forced into our mutual favorite *escape* from the real world. So, people who love mixing their boating with the passion for politics and particularly one person, and like pushing away fellow Americans on arrival, are clearly welcome at Hoffman's. All others, are clearly not. Effectively, it's a no trespassing sign, and we understood it well. I'd feel it was equally inappropriate if it was a Biden sign. It's just not the place. We moved on. This summer we've stayed at over 50 different marinas. This is the only one we saw with any official political affiliation. We'll avoid it, and encourage everyone we meet to avoid it too.
In this country, we have people of all races, religions, ethnicities, etc., and are allowed to display support for whichever political party they affiliate themselves with, as well as law enforcement - we're hoping you don't have an issue with that. Nowhere does the marina say it is only for "Trump fans" as you refer to the 12" x 18" flag on display for sale - or perhaps the multiple political flags flying from the boats at the marina placed there by their owners. There are people that feel a political party sign needs to be displayed while management does not make their political views known. We also do not deter anyone from flying any flag of any party or organization. We allow our slip customers to make their own decisions with regard to what they display on their personal vessels. If you haven't seen recently, there have been many Trump boat parades in the area, and this part of New Jersey happens to be a very strong Trump supported area by boaters. Our marina does not discriminate against any personal views, as we live in a free country. If you're going to judge people by their political affiliation, then clearly the issue is much deeper than a 12" x 18" flag.
