It is busy this year in Cuttyhunk. We only managed to get a slip thanks to a cancelation. Despite the full marina, our stay was quiet and peaceful. The Fishing Club is not open for breakfast, but there is plenty available at the dock -- raw bar, tacos, ice cream and more.
I did not realize when I booked the mooring in Vineyard Haven that the Marina's moorings are all outside the barrier. Also, as a mooring customer with the Marina you are not permitted to use the Marina's facilities. Facilities are only for dock customers. The moorings inside the barrier are managed by the Vineyard Haven Harbormaster. These moorings are first come first serve and you can use the facilities (showers) at the town beach. It was very rough and windy when we arrived. I was afraid if I spent time below I would become seasick. My whole family was uncomfortable. We ended up switching to a town mooring inside the barrier. I wish Dockwa made the mooring location clear before we booked.
We had a lovely stay. We were on Straight Wharf which is convenient, but a bit noisy and the showers are far away. Next time, I would prefer to stay on Old South Wharf. The showers are on this wharf and there are no restaurants or ferries arriving -- just quiet stores.
