We spent two nights at Zahnisers on a lovely T-head dock with power and water readily available. We had originally planned to pick up a mooring ball (several well-spaced in the mooring field), but the hot weather made shore power more appealing! Dave (dockmaster) gave us a great rundown of the amenities and offered a ride to the grocery store (Maya was an excellent chauffeur!). The pool bathhouse offered nice restrooms, but each only had one shower stall. However, the other bathhouse had 7 private suites with sink, toilet, and shower. There are also 3 washers and 3 dryers in the bathhouse (free, but you need your own laundry supplies). There were several bikes available to borrow, but they went fast, especially in the evening. The walk to a few restaurants (strongly recommend CD Cafe) was not too long. The pool was very busy, but we didn't take advantage of it. It looked to be very nice, with a pool bar and plenty of seating. We were very impressed with the marina, even at the premium cost. We weren't that impressed with Solomons in general, but will come back to Zahnisers if we make another trip.
This was our second visit of the season and it was wonderful. Two dock hands met us upon arrival at 1830, as well as the dockmaster Wayne. We were quickly in the slip and off to enjoy Canton and Fells Point. They host a small breakfast on Saturday, which started our day at the Fells Point Fun Fest off just right. The facilities just keep getting better with new floating docks and very secure pier access. The showers are good and the rest of the amenities are what you would need. Wayne and the staff will provide just the right level of help: enough when you need it but not overbearing when you don't. We left Sunday afternoon with a promise to return in the spring.
Nice visit to a quiet marina in the quiet town of Galesville, Maryland. We were assigned a T-head location, which worked well because we had no dock hands to help tie us up. The ladies in the office were very friendly and helpful, including coming down to pump our our holding tank immediately before we departed.
We booked a mooring, but asked to change to a slip in order to have shore power available. Lee was able to assign us a slip almost immediately, making our visit much more comfortable (with air conditioning in the hot, humid conditions). We try to make this trip a couple of times a year and will continue to come to Swan Creek Marina!
