Overall good experience. Nice, quiet family marina and we enjoyed our 3-night stay. I have just a few minor criticisms: Slips on the fixed dock were extremely narrow (to the point where couldn't use fenders; literally 1-2 inches clearance each side). The tides there are like 4', so if you are staying on one of the fixed docks and have a dinghy on your transom, you can't get up onto the dock because the ladder is the only way at low tide. So plan ahead to have no dinghy, or take it off before you dock. Also bring long dock lines as the reach from piling to rear cleat on your boat is long; you need to spring due to the tides. The pool was really nice, though it seemed to close too early even on weekends. Showers & restrooms were clean. Dock hands were friendly but of limited skill (young/inexperienced), so make sure you can come/go without a ton of help, and check the tie-up that they do to make sure it's correct; particularly considering the tides. Short walk to town, so the location was great. Will return again (but this time, will take the dinghy off before we get there, or leave it at home-port!).

OK except marina WiFi was not working. The marina staff told us this was known about and many customers were complaining. We frequently work from our boat and need WiFi for efficient internet access so this was a real problem for us. What surprised me was that the marina manager acted like this was just "the way it is", so too bad for us.....no offer of a partial refund, nor any comment on when it would be fixed. We paid a lot for our dock fees so to have this problem was a pretty big disappointment

Marina Response:
We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately that is not the conversation that happened with reference to the WIFI.

Last year I gave feedback and was never contacted about it, and this year I have a similar complaint. While we generally love the marina, we continue to be surprised that you have not yet fixed the main pier which traverses the East side of the marina. The boards are in terrible shape, and as a dog owner, this is a problem - our dog is small and not only are there a lot of splinters, but the old boards are so widely spaced that he has got his paw pinched in between boards on more than one occasion. I think you should prioritize this replacement.

Marina Response:
Mr. Bryant, We greatly appreciate your feedback and certainly take the safety of our boaters and their beloved dogs seriously. After purchasing Essex Island 4 years ago we have been on the fast track of replacing the marina infrastructure and will continue to do so until complete. I have made a note in your transient file and in the future, we will be certain to assign you to a slip where you can come and go without needing to use the older walkway. We look forward to your return and wish you a great rest of your boating season!
