Good holding, but go far enough out to not be on top of the ledge. The harbormaster has warned us that many boats end up on the rocks anchoring in the shallows. The current is extremely strong, so make sure you have a proper anchor size. Most boats anchor past the Kittery municipal mooring number T3.
Nice restaurants nearby. Easy to pop over to New Castle.
