Olcott and Eighteenmile Creek are located 18 miles east of the Niagara River and 40 miles to the southeast of Toronto. Inside the breakwatered entrance are a handful of fine marinas, restaurants and good opportunities for provisioning.
Use NOAA Chart 14810.
The entrance to Eighteenmile Creek is simply marked with only one light (flashing red 2) on the inlets west breakwater (visible in the image above). Inside the breakwatered inlet is a draft-friendly channel with minimum depths of at least six feet that deepen to eight feet beyond the Yacht Club. A 50-foot fixed vertical clearance crosses the creek about a half-mile in.
There are four marinas in the Olcott area, and all of them make space available for transient guests. If you are in need of repairs, there is a yard that can haul boats up to 40 feet in length. There is a market in the downtown area of town and a couple of liquor stores for those that need to stock their galleys.
Local Notices to Mariners are available online from the U.S. Coast Guard.
