Introduction:

Key Colony Beach Inlet is located on Fat Deer Creek and allows access from Hawk Channel to the Key Colony Beach development and the marinas available inside.

Navigating the Water:

Use NOAA Chart 11453.

Approach from the south. Red daybeacon “2,” a privately maintained aid, is the first mark to pick up on your way in. Green daybeacons “1” and “3,” which you may sight on the way in to the, mark a one- to three-foot-deep area to the southwest of the entrance. The inlet channel itself reportedly holds eight-foot depths, but quickly shallows to between one and three feet fairly rapidly farther in.
