Treasure Cay |
Once a small marina and resort development, Treasure Cay has become a prime destination resort on the northwest side of Great Abaco Island. The marina here has an excellent restaurant, large hotel and beautifully kept docks for transient guests.
Ashore you can find banks, grocery stores, medical facilities, restaurants, and all other host of facilities for provisioning and refreshing your stores. There is a small shopping district where you can pick up gift-type items and souvenirs.
The marina and resort facilities on Treasure Cay revolve around the large yacht basin that is located southwest of Sand Bank Point. The basin is approached from the south or southeast, and the entrance channel is fairly straightforward.
A flashing green and flashing red light, along with a series of stakes, mark the primary entrance into the basin. Once you have cleared the initial marks, you will make a long, sweeping turn into a long, straight dredged channel that leads up and into the marina and basin area. The complete entry channel and the deepest water can be easily scene in the image above. Note the large marina complex on the north (left) end of the basin)
One of the most popular aspects of Treasure Cay is its 3-mile-long white sand beach that overlooks the Sea of Abaco. It has often been noted as one of the finest beaches in the northern hemisphere. The beach is visible as a white strip above on the left (north) side of the image.
