If you have a big boat - say, > 100’ - this is a fine marina for you. You will be showering and having a great time on your yacht, feeling happy in your Boca Raton finest. But, as a 36’ self-piloted vessel, I don’t think it was a good match for us. We were assigned slip S08; be forewarned: this slip has barely 4’ of depth at low tide, so best arrive and depart at high tide. Showers and laundry for Marina visitors like us are not Ritz-level. They may be best described as things used by yacht staff, not boaters themselves. They were at the opposite end of the property from where our “small” boat was berthed. While in a secure building with marble tiled bathrooms, those bathrooms have wall-mounted sinks with mail order wooden pedestals beside them; they aren’t the Ritz. Finally, you are on Lake Boca, and we had some wind that night. When we were there, we had 1 to 2 foot chop all night, which wasn’t fun. As you might expect, the moment you head south into the intercoastal, that chop disappears immediately. There were some highlights, though. I had a slight tumble over a dock line, falling face first, and gashing my eyebrow. The staff didn’t panic, and brought some first aid help from the hotel. Second, Marina guests are invited to use the somewhat exclusive restaurant at the yacht club called the Flybridge. This restaurant was amazing. It was a five course Michelin class tasting menu that was among the best we’ve had around the world. The chef is amazing, as is the front of house staff. It “rescued” an otherwise unimpressive - yet still pricey - stay.
