About

Walker's Cay is under construction. Currently, rental accommodations, restaurants and public facilities are not available. We are excited to announce that the marina is now open!

Walker’s Cay lies 53 miles to the northeast of West End, Grand Bahama, in the northern Bahamas. Its surface is just less than 100 acres. For over fifty years, Walker’s Cay has been a legendary fishing resort known by fishermen worldwide as the premier, deep-sea fishing location. The rebirth of Walker’s Cay is underway thanks to philanthropist and marlin fishing enthusiast Carl Allen. The island is poised to welcome visitors who desire to fish, dive, and explore the beautiful reef, again serving as the northern gateway to the Bahamas.

Approach

At all times VPR “visual piloting rules“ should be used in The Bahamas. The sand can move and channels can fill in. The southern approach to Walkers Cay while shown on the chart with channel marks and a channel. Is not recommended to be used half the marks are missing and the chart depths are wrong. WalkersCay plans on dredging that in the future but for now we do not advise going that way in any vessel other than a small tender. Let me start off by saying this is the best marina in progress I have ever seen. The floating docks are super wide, ultra stable with mostly adequate light for night time (it gets dark near the fish gallows). You could probably drive a car on them. The slips are generous. The dock pedestals hold twin 50 amp power, pretty world class given that power is unmetered and built into the price. The fresh water is high pressure at the spigot and clean; very nice. The marina had a very serviceable fuel wall but the metal pilings could use a vertical rub rail to soften any contact with the boat. But we filtered the fuel and it was 100% clear of debris or water. The docks have super high end fish cleaning stations on them, large enough for any fish with starboard tops, overhead shade and lighting, and copious fresh water on hand. They even have power outlets. While it would have saved 10 miles on my trip from West End had the south entrance been open, the north entrance was well marked with lighted buoys and the GPS way point directions for getting there on the website were accurate. The water depth coming in the north entrance was plenty deep all the way through for even deep keel sailboats. The staff was courteous, friendly and accommodating. The electrical power was stable. That said, it is a work in progress. The place was dead empty and I mean 0-1 boats in the whole place in late Jan-early Feb 2025. There is a reason for this, and it is the same reason I only give 3 stars for now: it's not finished yet. The marina proper is in good shape with the notable shortcomings of the shower and toilets which, to be frank, suck. The marina currently uses portable (foot pump) head and shower on a trailer. The head is cramped, the head/shower has no interior light, the shower had no hot water, and the shower handle is spring loaded so that you have to hold onto it with one hand while showering. It might qualify as the worst night time shower experience of my life. It was that bad. I am 100% sure this will be fixed in the next phase of the build out, but I am not reviewing future things. Right now, it sucked. Next, there is literally nothing there besides the marina. No restaurants. No dock shop. No beer store. No ice. No bar. No marina office. No convenience store. Nothing. It is simply a world class marina slapped down in the middle of nowhere with no other amenities. This is NOT a complaint! I know this is a Work In Progress and such progress as has occurred to date speaks volumes about the future potential. It's going to be GRAND someday. But today it is empty because there is simply nothing there for anyone who doesn't bring it all with them. Big plans are in the works for the future, and a review 2 years from now will most likely be 5 star all the way. So if you are a hardcore saltwater angler, run, do not walk, to Walkers. We caught fish every day we were there including multiple wahoo, multiple mahi, a lovely mutton snapper, a small nice yellowfin tuna and yes, even a 50 lb catch and release sailfish which was the height of our trip. We also snorkeled for a few hours on the reef on the north side. It's pretty but we saw no lobsters.

We had a great stay at Walkers. The Rudy and Bernard were extremely friendly and professional. The docks were state of the art construction and comfortable. We were able to walk all over the Island to see all of its beauty. Enochs Smith was kind enough to open the beautiful church briefly to let us admire it from the inside. We would recommend this marina to others. Great job Carl Allen!

Fished the World Cup and found a 110” fish big enough to get us all shaking. Not quite big enough to compete with the 126” fish caught out of Cape Verde 🇨🇻. We will definitely be trying again next year.

Marina Response:
Awesome job glad you guys enjoyed better luck next year.
