Cape Charles Town Docks

Paula and her crew are fantastic! And we always enjoy the fun, small town vide of Cape Charles.

Excellent spot, restaurant on site, well-maintained and marked docks, attentive dock hands, clean bath house. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, beach. 2nd time here, and will be returning.

Very nice Marina. The dock crew was great! Nice wide floating docks. Easy walk to town or rent a golf cart. The beach is great especially for small children. It is very shallow, with no deep drop off. Great overall experience.

Convienient to town and beach. Staff was excellent. Music at the Shanty was a bit loud and went late. Should have stopped by 10:00 or so. Bath house was clean and accessible.

We had the pleasure of staying 2 nights the weekend of August 8-9 with our boat club. Paula and her team were friendly, helpful, and accommodating as always.

Nicest staff we’ve met!

We had dock hands waiting for us. They tied to lines properly, helped with power, offered to take our trash and bring us ice. They even had a small gift for us. They’ve stepped up their service. Other marinas could learn something from them. Nice stay.

Dock staff was great. Town was nice. Had not been to Cape Charles in 7 years the town was really cleaned up.

What a great marina! The dock crew was great, very well organized all around. Hanging out at the Shanty after a day on the water just added to the value. I hope to visit again soon.

A lovely marina with the town of Cape Charles in walking distance. There is a great restaurant on site, and many excellent ones in town. Two ice cream places , great coffee (free in the harbormaster's office, and a terrific bakery in town. The docks are in good shape, with some renovations occuring and the heads/bathhouse is clean and nice. Paula the harbormaster, is the best! Welcoming and helpful. The dockhands are great as well. We will definitely be back when in the area.

CCTD needs a 10 star review!! Very well kept marina with constant improvements daily. Julie and I were very impressed with the attention given to us by the entire staff. And then there is Paula ( reason for 10 star review ) There must be 5 of them, she seems to be everwhere at once keeping the marina a jewel of the Bay. Thank you very much Paula for an awesome stay at Cape Charles!!

Staff quickly responded when they were hailed on 68.. dock hands appropriately handled lines during our docking. Dock master kept us informed as maintenance was being performed on part of the docks. Cape Charles had much to offer visitors. We’ll be back again soon.

Absolutely delightful experience at the CC Town Docks. Facility is upgraded and well maintained. Probably the best showers in the Chesapeake- roomy & plenty of hooks and a big bench for the shower stuff. Really good seafood at The Shanty, a short walk to the top of the docks. Dockmaster, Paula, is welcoming &’professional. All the dockhands are extremely helpful & accommodating. Highly recommend

Comfortable and friendly and helpful staff

Great place to stay. The staff were very helpful. Easy entry into the harbor and well marked docks with full length finger docks on one side. There is a restaurant adjacent to the docks. Do know that they play music until about 10p (this was a Saturday night). Walking distance to downtown.

Dockhands were very helpful and the freebies were great. Only issues were the ball valve for the water on our slip didnt work. The dock hands brought us a hose to use off another slip which was great. The wifi was not good. Ended up using the wifi from The Shack and it worked alot better. All in all we will be back!

Superb! The facility has always been nice. But there has been an improvement in service. The dock hands were really helpful and brought the greeting bag to the boat with codes etc.

Cape Charles City Docks (CCCD) Experience was excellent driven completely by the “crew”. Often use CCCD as convenient stop-off point for cruises up the bay from Virginia Beach. July trip which coincided with World Cup Final (not a driver but a desire). Arrival and docking was greeted with but could only be consider “spectacular service”. Like many am used to dock hands who are well intended but poorly trained. We were greeted with NASCAR level professionals. They absolutely knew what they were doing. And then…. That was nice but each went out their way to provide seldom experienced. Constant was “what can we do to help”. Rig the spring line, hook up the electrical, get a bag of ice (large and reasonable). With total cheerful attitude of “how do we make your experience better….’ Back to World Cup. Excellent suggestions which included non-recommendations. Lead us to a great place (AJ’s on Peach Street). CCCD is doing a wonderful job in a great location.

Great personnel , nice floating docks so easy to tie up, decent restaurant at the marina. Bath house could be nicer. Close to the beach. A pool would have been nice with the hot temperatures.

Cape Charles Town Docks is a great place to stop. The marina restroom are clean and the docks are floating and well maintained.

Great young staff. Nice floating docks. Shanty restaurant right there BUT they play loud outdoor music after 10pm heard on the docks. Downtown is nice with lots of shops. AJ's bar has excellent smash burgers.

I really enjoy the town of Cape Charles and Cape Charles Town Docks makes our visit that much more enjoyable. The staff is helpful, Paula was extremely accommodating with our slip assignment, the heads and showers are clean with plenty of air conditioning and the washer and dryer worked perfectly! There is also a bike rental right there next to the marina which is super convenient. I am sure we will be back.

Paula, the harbor master, and her staff were attentive and so helpful - and really made us feel welcome. The piers were spotless and we enjoyed being so close to main street. One of our favorite spots for sure! Thank you!

The docks themselves were clean, modern, and well maintained while the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would highly recommend the CC town docks to any boaters visiting the lovely town of Cape Charles.

This is a gem of a marina! The rest area in front of the bath house keeps getting upgraded evey time I come through. The dock edge lighting is so welcoming and helpful. The staff keeps it all so clean. Perfect for a two-day or week-long stay as there are so many activities close by. Two of my Yacht clubs were there over the July 4th weekend and the staff was again awesome! From tie up to cast-off they were always handy.

Cape Charles Municipal Marina is a great place to stay for the night. The on location restaurant, The Shanty, is the hot spot for Cape Charles. Great food and friendly atmosphere. Courteous Marina staff, clean showers and rest rooms.

The marina is well run. All of the dock hands were competent, friendly, and helpful. The facilities were clean. The dock master was exceptional, answering all questions and providing the best accommodation for my boat. The location of the marina, adjacent to the town of Cape Charles is very nice as was the on site restaurant. Cape Charles is a great town and worth a several day stay. The Town Docks make it easy to do. Enjoy.

We had a very enjoyable stay in Cape Charles at the town docks. They have continued to upgrade the condition of the marina and the management and staff are super professional. We had to stay an extra day for weather and they were very accommodating. We moved mid-stay to pump out and take on fuel which was done in some windy conditions with no problems. The town is great with some fun stores and excellent ice cream shops. Watch the sidewalk step-ups where the storm drains make them a big step. Well worth a visit.

The Dockmaster answered and had two dockhands ready to tie us up at our slip. Thank you all!

Staff was spot on from the minute we hailed. Slip assignment was clear and concise. Two staff members had us settled in no time, checked in on us. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Great place!

The town dock is now under new management and has made great improvements to their service. The Dockmaster pays good attention to request and reservations. Dock hands are readily available, friendly, and willing to assist in any way. Maintenance of the docks seems to be a higher priority under the new regime.

Easy access to t hi as marina and helpful dock assistance. Good restaurant on sight. Lots of working boats but they did not present any problems. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk, doors are coded that's a plus, showers very small good hooks provided but no bench inside shower space, no shelf or spot for shampoo or wash cloth. Access to town and the beach was easy, lots of weekly rentals local merchants were very friendly. Brown dog ice cream is great as is MASON BAKERY

Cape Charles Town Docks is a wonderful marina! Paula and the dock staff are fantastic, helping us with fueling and docking in our slip. We wanted to stay an extra day to wait out some weather and Paula was very accommodating. The marina wifi worked great, and the bathrooms and showers were very clean. The town of Cape Charles is very quaint and an easy walk from the marina. We enjoyed visiting the shops, especially Coastal Baking Co and Brown Dog Ice Cream. We look forward to our next stay at Cape Charles Town Docks!

Excellent all around. Docks were high quality. Dock hands accessible and friendly. WiFi and electric service was great and dependable. Their information sheet was comprehensive. Paula in the office was very friendly, even to my dog Major. The setting was charming and relaxing. I highly recommend it. I will be coming back.

Everything was just perfect. Paula and her team were super responsive on the Dockwa and even had an arrival plan worked out in the event of a delay. The dockhands were great and very respectful. I’ve stayed in a place where the staff walks the docks in the morning offering to collect trash. Great, clean facility

The last time I visited Cape Charles Town Dock three years ago, it was not impressive. Dirty and not well cared for. On my recent visit, there was a 180 degree difference. Clean, well maintained, organized, and very nice staff. Paula does a fantastic job running a great marina. I look forward to returning.

Good overall but even with the town breakwater, some wave action makes it in when the wind really blows. Makes it a little bouncy at times. Lovely town though. Would definitely come back.

Service was excellent and the bathrooms were clean. I wish someone would enforce the No Wake requirement. Work-boats were easily doing 10 knots going past the marina docks.

Stayed at Cape Charles Town Docks marina on 3/10/26. Docks were in excellent shape, facilities were clean and modern. Staff were very accomodating.

We sailed from Deltaville, Virginia, to Cape Charles for the first time over the Thanksgiving holiday and had a wonderful time. The facilities were top-notch. We will definitely be back.

We love Cape Charles and the marina is a huge part of that. This was our third stay this fall and we will certainly be back. The marina is easy to access, well maintained and the staff is welcoming and very helpful with anything you might need. I really can't say enough good things about our overall visit except that I wish more places were like this.

This is a cozy and lovely marina . The showers were great and the ship store was well stocked with boating supplies. The staff was friendly and helpful . This is also near great restaurants and pub. I will definitely stay here again in the future !!

We had a wonderful stay again at Cape Charles Town Harbor. While we have been coming for years, the decision to bring in Paula Davis as Harbormaster, was the smartest thing the town could do. Paula and her crew make you feel welcome and want to come back. We will.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Cape Charles Town Docks! We loved the proximity to the charming downtown Cape Charles, its beach, shops, and restaurants. The marina was good - clean, in excellent shape, and friendly staff. We didn't use marina amenities as we used the amenities on our boat. There is also a restaurant right there at the docks which is very popular and has good food! We enjoyed our walk from the marina to the local brewery as well as some really delicious oysters at a couple of local bar/restaurant happy hours. We will definitely be back to Cape Charles Town Docks! It was cold when we visited. I'd love to visit when it's warmer so I can enjoy the beach. Thank you, Cape Charles Town Docks!

I love Cape Charles. It’s a lovely town with plenty of dining and drinking venues, shopping, a beach and lots of friendly people. Everything is within easy walking distance except the brewery but you can rent a golf cart.

We always enjoy our stay at the Cape Charles Town Docks. Paula was instrumental in accommodating our annual BBSA Cape Charles Cup, which was great. My wife and I came back on a less crowded weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The dock hands were ready and eager to help. The docks are large and well-built and the staff seems to be making improvements constantly. Love it.

On our way to Annapolis and spent 3 days and nights in Cape Charles tied up because of bad weather. Felt safe and appreciated dock hands helping with arrival purchase of diesel, tie up and connecting to shore power. EHK

Paula, the Dockmaster, is very nice and very accommodating. The dockhands are also super friendly and helpful. We have stayed here several times and always enjoy the convenience of being so close to town, although it can occasionally get a little rough when the wind is right. However, this never bothered us too much. The bathhouse is clean, and the facilities are generally well taken care of. We will be back! (P.S. - don’t miss the Mason Ave Bakery while you’re there!)

Great municipal marina with a really friendly staff (thanks Paula). Well-maintained floating docks with secure cleats and good padding. Convenient updated boater's bathhouse with picnic tables on front porch. Short two block walk on a path to downtown with several restaurants and bars. Lovely town to visit. Minimal noise at dock and absolutely no wake in the harbor.

The dock staff was helpful, respectful, and friendly. The restaurant did not make significant noise like a previous reviewer noted although the commercial fisherman would provide early morning wakes that we could feel. The industrial business south of the harbor was the main source of noise. The restrooms were clean and all facilities were good. The food at the restaurant (The Shanty) was very good.

Cape Charles Town Docks out did themselves for the Cape Charles Cup regatta. With nearly 60 boats arriving at nearly the same time they were flawless in directing us to our slips and providing assistance in mooring. Well done to the entire staff.

Easy navigation approach, great deck hands to help with docking, helpful welcoming package with suggestions for activities in town, clean bathrooms and showers, all right by Cape Charles’ Main Street and attractions. We couldn’t ask for more!

The new Dockmaster has really made a difference in the service at this marina. I been coming here for more than 20 years and know the area well. There has been recent maintenance work done on the docks; they look great, now they need to put some funds to repair and upgrade their bathhouse. This will then justify their rates and be equal to the service. Good job Paula!

Wow!! Paula (Dockmaster) and her team are really turning around the Cape Charles Town Docks!! Dockhands helped us tie up when we arrived, trash is collected from the inner ends of the piers, Paula surprised us with a delivery of Virginia peanuts and a packet of local coffee. The dockhands came around to see if we needed anything, new flags mark the ends of the various piers and the bath house, good pre-visit email communications and arrival info. Definitely a place for a return visit!! See you all, and that adorable puppy (Perry!), again soon. Lisa and Chip

This is a nice, clean marina with floating docks in a pretty little town with a sandy beach.

Dock hands were a great help. The welcome package appreciated.

Marina staff were very attentive & courteous. Bath house was clean & nice, and the floating docks were in good condition. They were expecting our arrival and provided us with a welcome bag after we were secured in our slip.

Great Marina and the staff was excellent

The docks, marina, location, electric and staff were very nice. The restrooms and showers were decent. No pool, boaters lounge, laundry, courtesy car or bikes but still charge $3.50 per foot, the highest we’ve paid on the Chesapeake this year. The Shanty restaurant at the Marina is good. The town and the museum, and the beach is awesome, as well as many ice cream shops and a few other restaurants. Very nice stay, but wish they were more reasonable. We’re headed to a very nice yacht club on the bay today, and they charge $1 less per foot. They should reexamine their pricing.

Cape Charles Town Docks are well maintained with a responsive staff. Boats pulled in for overnight stays, week long stays, and month long stays while we were there. Great location for exploring the bay with the amenities you expect.

One of the toilets in the men’s room was out of order, leaving only one in-use. Other than that, it was a great stay. Its a nice marina with very courteous staff, in a convenient location

CC Town docks has gone from slowly falling apart through neglect to now become a first class operation. The new team installed this year should be congratulated.

The entire staff was friendly and helpful. There was a team to assist with lines and electrical when entering the slip. New for 2025 is a welcome bag. Bathrooms are clean. I will definitely return.

Great place to stop, since now back under management by the town of Cape Charles with Paula (DMaster) and Tyler (assistant DM ) who both met with us upon arrival to offer any assistance needed. Shower and rest rooms are spotless, docks have been cleaned and repaired.. The downtown area has also been spruced up and has just about anything that you may need.

An exceptional marina Manager Joanna and experienced dock crews. Courteous, always had crew literally on the docks throughout the day checking on boat patrons. Without question one of the very best marinas on the CHesapeake Bay.

I was in a bind and Paula helped us out tremendously. The week of July Fourth and she squeezed us in until I could fix my trailer and pull our boat out. Great amenities, clean/uncluttered dock, and very professional crew working it.

The Town has done a super job refurbishing the floating docks. The WiFi is strong and the bathhouse is new and pristine. We’ll lay up here instead of at the Oyster Farm going forward.

Docks are clean, newish, and well maintained. Staff was professional, helpful, and friendly. The town is very accessible; plenty of restaurants, and shops. The one noteworthy deficiency is laundry facilities. The marina has one washer, and one dryer and the washer is out of service. There is also no Coin Op Laundry in town. Don't expect to do laundry in Cape Charles. Other than that, it's a great place to visit.

The marina operations have been taken back over by the town, and what a change! It’s back to being a great place to visit. The manager and staff were great, the bathrooms were clean, and the trash cans weren’t overflowing on the docks. So happy they made the change.

We enjoyed our stay at Cape Charles Marina, a fine municipal facility with a great location. Staff and docks were good. Only tick was the overall maintenance level of the bathhouse. Nothing bad, just in need of a little TLC and attention.

Docks hands very helpful. Staff offered to drive us to Food Lion but InstaCart was available and easy. Shanty restaurant had good food and drinks. Overall nice place to stay for a couple of nights and the town was very nice and beach within walking distance.

Always a great stop. Paula the new Dockmaster is very professional and accommodating. She runs a ship shape marina. Floating docks and deep water, well marked channel. Good up to 150’ or a bit more and 12’ draft.

First time in Caper Charles and what a great surprise it was. The staff were very helpful, docks were in great condition and the easy access to the restaurants and shops made it a great stay. Recommend you rent a golf cart for a day and your around this historic gem that the locals call "Mayberry with a beach"

Easy entrance to the slip, met with line crew and dock master upon arrival. Docks are well maintained, nice service pedestals at each slip for water and shore power. Bathrooms were well lit and very clean. Docks were well lit and very quiet through the night. Great experience. Would visit again. Thanks!

Great staff, nice docks, and fuel. We did not use the bathrooms or showers but they looked very nice as well. Very cool to get a T-shirt from the docks for staying.

Cape Charles is a fun town, and the Town Docks are in great shape with excellent facilities. The dockmaster and assistants were there to assist when we arrived and provided us with all the marina and town information (and a few goodies). We enjoyed wandering the town checking out stores and restaurants. Good beer at the Brewery and the Distillery is a great spot with a rooftop area. The beach is wonderful to cool off on a hot day. Golf cart was easy to rent and made touring the town easier although most everything is within a reasonable walk of the marina.

We always enjoy staying at Cape Charles Town Marina. This time was even better. The dock master and her staff were so helpful and friendly. Location is great, walking distance to down town. Looking forward to our next stay.

Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Slip rates are very reasonable and fuel was cheap. Great restaurant at the marina and 5 minute walk to downtown Cape Charles. Would definitely go back.

Nice docks and first rate staff. The dock-master was skilled and helpful. The proximity to town is great and the on site restaurant was good. Swag bag was cool and appreciated. Will definitely stay a few extra days our next visit.

Great location to all of the town shops/restaurants, etc. Paula and her team are awesome and greeted us with a nice Welcome bag with local coffee, peanuts, coozie and an informational sheet with access codes, etc. Facilities were spacious and clean. Would definitely stay there again.

We spent two nights here and truly enjoyed the small working harbor and quaint main street of Cape Charles. The marina was wonderful--we especially appreciated the young man on the dock when we arrived (thanks, Tyler!), and enjoyed meeting Paula, as well, who really knows her way around dock lines and cleats! Everyone was friendly, and having the terrific Shanty restaurant steps away is a big plus. We'll definitely be back!

The marina is great! - location, amenities, staff, cleanliness, appearance, etc. It was awesome learning that Paula is the new dockmaster...she's fantastic. She and her crew were extremely helpful and made our visit perfect! It was a very welcome change and we'll definitely be back.

Very good marina. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Located near Cape Charles shops and restaurants including Shanty restaurant adjacent to Marina. A must stop for lower Chesapeake Bay cruising!

Wow! What a great weekend here! Paula and her crew were waiting at our slip as we arrived and swiftly had us tied up beautifully. They couldn’t have been more attentive to our needs, checking on us often and even delivering the local paper as well as local coffee to us in the morning! The docks are well maintained, the bathhouse has been upgraded and is super clean and they have great merchandise in the office. We will be back for sure and if you haven’t been here this season, you need to come on down and experience the wonderful changes going on here! Thank you,Paula!

The Marina staff was on hand for arrival. They were very courteous and helpful. I would recommend this Marina without hesitation.

OUTSTANDING! We have been coming for a few years now and were so pleasantly surprised at all the improvements! The bathrooms in past years were not clean and not very desirable so I always showered on the boat. This time however, I decided to give them a try and OMG what a fantastic experience! Absolutely perfect! The dockmaster who met us at our slip to help with lines could not have been more helpful and pleasant as well as the staff who helped us get fuel. Nice clean docks and facilities. Close to town. Very walkable. Check out the museum with a neat working display of the cities supplemental power source.

Paula was great. The young gentlemen who work for her did a terrific job and were very polite. Look forward to being back.

Nice floating slips.

It is off-season but staff were attentive & friendly. Checked on how we were doing & picked up our trash from boat - no having to carry it to trash cans/dumpster. Clean bathhouse.

Could not have been better!, stayed 3 nights and wish it could have been more. Dockhands & Staff were friendly, considerate and helpful. The restrooms/showers were always clean. Perfect location. Can't wait for the next visit.

Just spent one night. Nice docks and good restaurant on site. Cute town with a good distillery for cold beverages.

Slip assignment was too short and too narrow for our boat, 51’ Jeanneau sailboat. Dockhands did not work together well.

Very bad cell coverage and it was communicated that their wifi wasn't working well. That made rout planning inconivient. Showers had huge warning that they don't guarantee sanitation. Either they don't know how to clean heads and/or don't understand covid isn't transmitted by toilet seats. Ir their lawyer has scared them to put up signs for plausible deniability. Either way, it was nat a friendly feeling. Otherwise, all was nice. Good floating docks, nice resturant nearby.

As usual the service was great. The dock hands are very attentive and on point. The facilities were clean. Unfortunately the ships store was operating through a window due to C19, but they were able to get what we needed. Will be back at least one more time this summer and maybe a couple of times. We liked the marina and Charlie was a big help and worked us in on the last minute. Would have been a five star except we were a little disappointed about the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers. This is probably as much to do with it being public access during the day. Short walk into town, if you are going there is a short path behind the restaurant instead of having to go around by the road.

Delightful marina with helpful, friendly staff. We don’t use the bathroom facilities so can’t speak to those. Terrific location within a 2-min stroll of the center of town. Such a charming town, even when just coming out of quarantine.

Great location for a quick trip to town. Dogs are allowed on the beach before 9am and after 9pm. Wonderful sunset views from the dock

Facilities are fading a little.

Excellent marina with fairly new, wide Floating docks with great electric pedestal for shore power. Bathrooms could use a little spruce up!

Great marina, glad I brought fenders because the docks were just that and not slips. I'll be back in August!!!

Great docks and facilities WiFi is week

Appreciated docking assistance as we arrived. Shanty restaurant on-site was great! The bathhouse is an A on the outside but just a C for the actual facilities.

The Dockmaster made sure we were three of us together. Very clean marina, east walk to fun town, everyone friendly in a small town southern way.

Easy access. I didn't use the facilities offered, but it was very clean. The whole process was handled very efficiently due to the experience of the harbormaster and using Dockwa.

Dock master was super helpful when I had outboard engine trouble and called me back with advice that helped me fix it. Great place!

They advertise a pool and a laundry and they have neither. The marina that does have those perks (Oyster Farm) will not let you use them unless you stay at their marina. Otherwise the head and showers were large and clean. They have block ice! And the quaint little town is .25 mi away.

Staff very helpful, facility very clean and well maintained, only thing missing was laundry facility and I understand they are working on that. The town is very pleasant. Brown Dog ice cream has fabulous flavors, i liked Strawberry Rhubarb flavor. Shanty’s resteraunt next to Marina was bery good as was Kelly’s Irish pub

This marina is always lovely...from the condition of the docks to the people who stay there. It's so close to restaurants and so convenient. We always enjoy it.

Docks are very nice. As are the facilities. Worked out well for us this time.

The Wave action at the dock rocked the boat all night. No one got to sleep. Sunday was blessed with a loud water pump going off all day and that was followed by a night of loud music from the restraunt. Contined by the restraunt employees seemingly playing the drums on the trash cans. The town gave little entertainment value. Skip going and save yourself the.money and get some sleep

We had a great stay at Cape Charles Town Harbor. The dock master emailed us our slip assignment a few days ahead. The marina immediately answered our hail on VHF16 and had a line handler meet us at the slip. The floating docks are in excellent condition. The restrooms and showers are relatively new, very clean and accessed by coded door locks. There are several restaurants in easy walking distance.

Shanty restaurant had great environment and food. Shower and bathroom facilities very clean. Docking and refueling was convenient, fellow sailors helpful and the evening quiet!
