We are repeat customers and this is our 1st visit fully under Safe Harbor and the new office staff. Our last visit was in 2021 during the transition and old staff. We were surprised and slightly disappointed that in the 2 years since we’ve been away other than new staff, increased rates and an inconvenient and temperamental fob system for access nothing has been upgraded. There are lots of ‘rules’ that are not consistently applied (not storing bikes on docks yet some people were allowed to store and charge their scooters?) and various other ‘picky’ items considering the marina was very empty the whole month we were there and one would think they would be grateful for the business and do what they could to accommodate customers. I was working remote while here and the last week and half there were two days we did not have internet which impacted my ability to work. I called the office to report and was told it would be looked into but never had any follow up? This marina also makes it very difficult to have work done on your boat, marine mechanics are extremely busy and trying to find one quickly and local isn’t easy. When you do, they aren’t on the approved list for the marina and the ones that are approved have a 3 week wait. It almost seems with some of the new ‘rules’ they are trying to discourage boaters from staying? The fitness room and shower were unbearably hot. You would take a shower and come out sweating needing another shower. The laundry room showers had hot water issues so we used the fitness shower until they opened the members shower and temp laundry room up to us- that shower had ac. We also connected with repeat rv customers while at the pool who were not happy with new rules and increased prices. We thought after two years we would arrive to many improvements. While the beginning of this review sounds negative, we love the location, (best view in Marathon) love Rick at the fuel dock, the restaurant is still great and made lifetime friends in our dock neighbors. There is a lot of room for improvement by Safe Harbor, especially with increased rates. We truly hope this marina does improve for its members and guests as we come to the Keys each year for a month and look forward to our time in Marathon.
